Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. As the middle daughter of a pastor, Jessica was accustomed to being in the house of the Lord. Year in and year out, she could be found faithfully attending service. As the middle son of a deacon-now pastor, Stephen was also used to faithfully attending church services as well. As with any great gift, there is usually an element of surprise. Jessica’s church and Stephen’s church had been in fellowship annually years before they were both born. At the age of 12, Stephen noticed Jessica as a result of their church fellowship. At that time, Stephen told his siblings that he would marry Jessica one day. Years would pass before Jessica noticed Stephen. She mentioned to a mutual friend that Stephen was a handsome guy after seeing him at an event. Following the event, Stephen decided to ask Jessica out on a date. The first date was fine but Stephen and Jessica agreed to be friends. As with any great gift, timing is everything. Six years of friendship laid the foundation for Jessica to see beyond Stephen’s physical characteristics. She was able to experience his consistency and kindness which ultimately won her over. God has uniquely developed them into a gift for each other-once they both understood and accepted Christ as their first and best gift.
