We met in February 2015 at Lindy Hop St. Louis' weekly swing dance event at the Grandel Theatre. We bonded as friends over 2 months and would see each other weekly at dances. In April 2015, we got locked outside the Grandel Theatre together for 15 minutes late in the evening and Steve waited with Gemma to be let back in. During those 15 minutes, we got to know each other and tried to find silly ways to break back into the building (which didn't work). After this evening, Gemma knew Steve was the one and told her mom so that night. That weekend, we bonded further at a Shag Dance workshop and danced together for 2 hours that Saturday night at the Casa Loma Ballroom. Three days later, we went on our first date to Steak 'n Shake (where we now celebrate our anniversary every year).

Over the past 4 years, we have been to LA, June Lake-California, Champaign-IL, Nashville, and Cancun-Mexico together, have danced Lindy Hop and St. Louis Shag for countless hours, completed at least 15 jigsaw puzzles while listening to podcasts, have done over 30 escape rooms, experienced eclipse totality, and on December 23, 2017, got engaged. We are absolutely thrilled to share our special day with friends and family.
