Question

WEATHER AND ALTITUDE?

Answer

The Vail Valley is situated in the heart of the Colorado Rockies at an elevation of approximately 8,000 feet. Average summer temperatures range from evening lows of 44 degrees to highs in the 80s. Brief summer afternoon showers are very common, so bring an umbrella or light raincoat. The elevation and dry climate produce comfortable, warm days and cool, starry nights. It is recommended that you bring your sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm and moisturizer. And don’t forget a sweater or light jacket! OTHER TIPS: 1. Begin hydrating 1-2 days before your trip, and don’t forget to bring water on the airplane. Drink plenty of water during your stay here and even keep water by your bedside at your hotel! 2. For those sensitive to altitude sickness, taking 2 Bayer aspirin every 4 hours beginning the morning of your trip will help. 4. Stay away from caffeine and alcohol on your first day at altitude. Alcohol in moderation is recommended as 1 drink at sea level has the effect of 3 at 8,000 feet.
