Billy and I first met in high school. We sat at the same lunch table with mutual friends for the whole year not knowing how important we would become in each other’s lives. It was not until the end of that year that we started dating. When Billy finally got the courage to ask me out on a date, I was absent from school because I had to go to my sister's college graduation. It was fate when we both got accepted into Texas A&M University. We eventually graduated from A&M in May of 2022. And as luck, or fate, would have it, we were both accepted to the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Billy was accepted into the PhD program in Pathology and I was accepted into the Nursing Program. Both our families live within half a mile from each other, so fate had placed us in close proximity for us to eventually meet. Our relationship has lasted for over 5 years and has spanned our attendance through Clear Falls High School, Texas A&M University and at present The University of Texas in Galveston. We are ready to share our lives together and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for us.
Proposing to Stephanie was never a matter of if, but when. The planning process began the summer of 2021 where I learned more about rings than I ever thought possible! After searching over and under for the perfect one I had finally found it, now it just became a matter of when. God works in mysterious way and quickly presented me with an ideal opportunity… joining her family to vacation in Hawaii! Jumping ahead, I had it all planned out! I had been given the blessing by her parents (and her sister) and then came the most exciting and nerve-wracking flight of my life. After landing and checking into the hotel we all prepared to go to a lighthouse I had picked out for the spot. Well, everything feels closer on a map and a 25 minute drive began to grow longer because of traffic. We all got to the trail around 6pm and unlike Texas I learned that the mountains of Hawaii changed the sunset time and the 1-mile hike would be all uphill. Hiking this beautiful ocean overlook with her family, Steph and I reminisced over where we had come from to where we are now. Getting lost in conversation I began to realize that the sun was beginning to set and we were losing light! I began looking for a spot when rounding the corner, it presented itself! Again, God works in mysterious ways and a beautiful scenic overlook lay just ahead of us. With the sun going down casting its last light over the ocean and a beautiful view I knew this was where I wanted to ask Stephanie to marry me.
