On our final day living together in New York City, where we had spent the last four years while in school, Jesse dragged a very jet-lagged Stephanie to the Freedom Tower for a final beautiful overlook of their home. Although Jesse had been planning for weeks to propose while on top of New York City, at the last minute, he shifted the plans. The night before, Stephanie had said something about wanting to have a cozy, special last night in their beloved apartment. And this got Jesse's creative juices flowing. Quickly, he started texting his sister and asking if she could help with a last-minute plan to answer Steph's dream. On their way to downtown, they almost didn't make it out of the house, because Stephanie was very tired, and in her post-nap haze, asked Jesse jokingly, "are you going to propose up there, because if not I want to sleep." Jesse - without lying - told her no, but convinced her to get out of bed anyways. While they were watching the sunset over Manhattan, Stephanie kept teasing Jesse about how perfect of a proposal spot they were already in. All Jesse could do was feign a sheepish shrug. Meanwhile, Jesse's sister and brother-in-law came over to the apartment to put the plan in motion. They set up candles, lights, and got the music playing. As an added bonus - unbeknownst even to Jesse - they hid their own puppy-cam on top of a bookshelf, to capture the whole thing on video! When Jesse and Steph arrived home, she was truly shocked, as Jesse asked Stephanie to marry her while their song played in the background. Somehow, Jesse knew their cozy Upper East Side Apartment was actually the perfect spot.
