Trailer loaded and Texas bound, Steph started her journey across the country in the Summer of 2017. She was excited and anxious about stepping into her "dream job". On the other side of the country, Trey was working in Dallas, coaching at the gym where Steph had just accepted a job. The two met and the rest was history... in a perfect world. Hoping to help Steph adjust to her new life, Trey invited her to dinner and to church. In his mind it was to help her find people, family, and a life in Texas. Not date her. They even had the “I have had a lot of fun hanging with you, but I don't want you to get the wrong idea” conversation (HAH). Over the next three months their friendship continued, but Steph’s qualities did not go unnoticed to Trey, and visa-versa. He began to see her chase after the Lord. She found community in his friends, got baptized, and slowly they began to be taunted by their gymnasts to stop staring at each other from across the gym. As the weeks went on they noticed a shift and said yes to dating! Wanting to keep things low-key, their first offical date was a day trip to LA for an adventure. Though their relationship started with supporting each other while relentlessly serving their athletes and others, it led them into a deeper journey of serving and discovering each other. They learned to fight for one another, stand for one another, and laugh... a lot. On May 7th 2020, after two and a half years of dating, meeting the families, surgeries, coaching, and job changes, Trey asked the love of his life to marry him. Their relationship has been founded on Matthew 13:44 "The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure, buried in a field, that a man found and reburied. Then in his great joy he goes and sells everything he has and buys that field." They view their relationship as that treasure, and are so honored go all in, and take the plunge together. They can't wait for the next chapter and the blessing it will have on their ministry!
