Mother of the Groom
Can you tell which parent Ryan looks more like? You’ll see later that the two have also always been great dance partners. It all started with records from Marky Mark (don’t worry, they won’t be dancing to any of those songs). I guess Ryan also has his Mom to thank for his strong work ethic. One of Ryan’s favorite pass times was accompanying Marilyn to work in the Financial District of San Francisco. There she would administer “typing tests” while Ryan observed the attorneys seated in their overstuffed leather chairs surrounded by walls of dusty books. A true Mama’s boy, Ryan loves his Mom above all else, but still won’t let her ever change the Thanksgiving menu.
Father of the Groom
Tim is as caring and selfless as parents come. A true family man, Tim is the original Clark Griswold. Staying true to the part, he even used to rent station wagons for family trips. Tired of the boy’s shenanigans, Tim once secured a rocking chair to the roof rack and told Ross and Ryan it was the “time out chair”. Needless to say, no punches were thrown in the backseat on that trip. This type of good humor has helped in Tim’s success as a fixture in Petaluma real estate. Despite his busy schedule, Tim managed to attend every sporting event and contribute what little free time he had to being a Scout Master. Although gear and snack bar purchases ran up quite a tab, Tim was able to recoup some by wheeling and dealing real estate transactions with fellow parents in the stands.
Father of Matron of Honor
Dr. David Kavanaugh will walk the bride down the aisle. Dave is a true renaissance man and patriarch of the Kavanaugh family. With his wife Bev, Dave raised Rebecca and her four siblings on their beautiful farm in Petaluma. Together they managed to ensure that all of them turned out to be successful humans, all while earning a PhD, traveling the world and conducting research. As an Emeritus Curator at the California Academy of Sciences, Dave’s contributions toward to field of entomology are unparalleled. If you have questions about insects, Dave certainly has answers.
Bride
Matron of Honor
As the most thoughtful and selfless person Stephanie knows, Rebecca knows how to make every person and occasion feel special. Steph and Rebecca met while the two were waiting tables at Aram’s Café (Petaluma Armenian restaurant). Like Steph, Rebecca is very talented. She is an incredible baker and successful business owner. Along with her husband Evan and two children Isla and Ian, the 4 have made Penngrove Market a lovely local destination.
Bridesmaid
Renee has worked alongside Stephanie at Keysight Technologies for 11 years. Realizing they had shared strengths and work ethic, the two became fast friends. Not only is Renee an excellent engineer, she’s a skilled sailor! Steph and Ryan had one of their first few dates on San Francisco Bay where Renee taught Ryan how to sail.
Bridesmaid
Michaelle is Betsy’s fireball girlfriend (think Latin Beth Dutton). She’s small, but sassy, has a thirst for adventure and knows how to cook and shoot guns. Find Michaelle and you’ll find whatever pet animals are nearby.
Bridesmaid
“Wifey”, aka MC Stop and Talk is another reason the neighborhood is so fun. A friend to all, Alaya cannot go anywhere without running into someone she knows. Steph also met Alaya while waiting tables at Aram’s Café. As the hostess with the mostess, Alaya pays attention to every detail and together with Steph the two throw some great parties. It helps that Alaya’s fiancé Twan is a bona fide BBQ pit master. Steph and Ryan are lucky to live next to these two and their children Parker and AJ.
Bridesmaid
The eldest of the Ospital siblings, Betsy is like a hero from the 1800s American West. When she’s not reviewing the financials of Ospital Landscape Management and keeping the boys in line, she’s tending to her flock of chickens and impressive fruit and vegetable garden. She’s loyal to a fault, strives to be self-sufficient and has earned everything she has. Always a trooper and good for some laughs true to Ospital form, Ryan is looking forward to sharing a duck blind this upcoming hunting season.
Groom
Best Man
Ross might be taller (and have better hair), but he’s still Ryan’s little brother (Yes, biological). Known for his quick wit and charm, this guy can bring life to any party…but don’t let him catch you slipping! Aside from an upbringing, the two share love of family, friends, America and tradition. Neither will allow Mom to change anything about the way holidays are celebrated in the Sullivan household. There’s no one else Ryan would rather share his impending Ty Beanie Baby fortune with. Now if only those would hit as predicted…
Groomsman
Despite being separated by a couple large mountain ranges and a dozen or so Midwestern cornfields, Bri-babe and Ry-babe have managed to remain close and get together as often as possible. If it were up to Brian, he would probably just hike the distance between them. The guy is a mountain goat and along with Colm, puts everyone to shame on their hikes. If you have a spare few hours and are in need of a good laugh with lots of pictures, be sure to ask Brian and Ryan about the time they backpacked Glacier National Park.
Groomsman
Bob was Ryan’s first friend at St. Vincent Elementary School. When you make friends with one Ospital, you become family with the entire clan. Little did they know their families would remain close for decades to come. Bob and Ryan used to spend weekends watching South Park, patrolling the local skate park and hiding from the cops. Now they are the cops and patrol the mean streets of Sonoma County.
Groomsman
Colm is always ready for an adventure. Together he and Ryan have been sky diving and bungee jumping. If they aren’t enjoying a day at the range, they’re likely exploring some place new. Together they have ventured to 3 foreign countries and 17 US states. Ryan drives and Colm keeps him from getting lost. Colm’s intuition and land navigation skills negate the need for any GPS – regardless of whether it’s an old haunt or somewhere they’ve never traveled before.
Groomsman
Following in big bros’ footsteps, Jim and younger brother Jeff would accompany Bob and Ryan to the skate park after school. Jim kept them in stitches, assigning names to and imitating the characters they’d come across. Not much has changed in 20 years, as maturity hasn’t caught up with age in any of these gents. Being Ryan’s main hunting partner, Jim provides that same comedic relief no matter how cold the duck blind or arduous the terrain searching for elusive Sonoma County boar. Jen is Jim’s wife and Ryan thanks her in advance for letting him drag Jim on these excursions, despite having 2 year old Lincoln at home.
Officiant
Meet the man behind the formidable moustache. Pete is Steph and Ryan’s neighbor and a primary reason as to why the neighborhood is such an awesome place. He is a seasoned outdoorsman and enjoys hiking and biking. Pete’s enthusiasm shines through in the invaluable work he does locally combating climate change and as a green architect. Along with his wife Lee and son Riley, the three have become dear partners with Ryan and Stephanie in chicken ranching!
