Our Story

When you least expect it...

The first time I met Nick, was in one of the lock down units at Pulaski County Jail, in October 2022, don't worry, he was a deputy and I was a nurse working in the jail. However, we were both unavailable. Que in 2023...if you know me (the bride), 2023 was a year from hell to put it lightly. As the groom would put it, it was a rough year for him as well. In September 2023, Nick reached out via Facebook and casually mentioned dinner. I politely declined. Nick, being as stubborn as he is, reached out again. However, on this day, the dog-sitter didn't show-up and I had worked a 12 hour shift. To say I was mad, doesn't even cover it. So when Nick asked how my day was, he got to hear all about it. Probably a lot more than what he wanted to hear. His response was, " I could let your dogs out for you"? Well, I walked right into that one didn't I? He asked about dinner again and I told him let's see how the dogs like you first. Of course they ended up loving him! Especially Ash, for those who don't know him, he is very stand-offish at first and a major momma's boy. So for him to run over to him like he had known him for years and then to ignore me as I called him, was already a flag for me. Soon he noticed the fish tank and was very excited to feed the fish. Nick even let out a little giggle(tee-heee) as the guppies went up. And that was the moment that I was like, okay, we can go out to dinner. As soon as he was done feeding the fish, that's exactly what he asked, "how about our dinner now?" How could I resist? We went out to David's Burgers and the rest is history. However, within that history is a lot of dark times. As mentioned before 2023 was a very rough year. Within that year, I was transitioning jobs and leaving the jails and the worst news of all, cancer was back on a loved-one. Nick also was going through his own battles as well. He was battling major depression. In the darkest time of our lives, we found the light in each other. It's the way we push for each other's happiness and little joys in life. The way we support each other in our careers. It's smack-talking and being best friends that have no secrets. It is the little things at the end of the day that seemed to help both of us find our peace. And we never want it to end! Which is why he asked and why I said " I do"! If you made it this far, CONGRATULATIONS! I would like to say that is the end of our story but we still have so much more to be written! So please, join us in our celebration as becoming one!
