How did we meet? Well... let us take you back to 1994. We were 9 and 5. Stephanie’s aunt married matthew’s uncle. We were in the same wedding, attended family parties together, and grew up in neighboring towns. Stephanie was a girly girl that was completely boy crazy. Not just for any boy, she was head over heals for this pain in the ass, know it all, troubled 9 year old. Matthew, was like every 9 year old boys boy. Getting dirty, dirt bikes, playing in the woods, and building things. He couldn’t be bothered (yet) with girls. Family parties were always stephanie’s favorite. She would spend most of the party following Matt around and he would spend most of the party trying to avoid her. Fast forward to our high school days - Stephanie still boy crazy and Matthew, now loving all the ladies. Nothing really changed at family parties. However, Stephanie wouldnt follow Matt around anymore. She would creepily watch him from across the room and pray he wouldnt talk to her in fear of not knowing what to say. He would occassionly wink at her and throw her the side smile - fully knowing her crush has yet to dissapear. Going our seperate ways in life it wasnt until a “hey you” facebook message in 2015 that really sparked a fire. Stephanie ran into the living room beyond excited that the one and only “Matt Poulin” wanted to have a drink with her. Two weeks later and the “i love you’s” came easy, our smiles were a bit bigger, we barely slept from staying up all night talking, and everything fit right into place. Fast forward to today, we have two healthy beautiful boys, one sassy stuburn yorkie, the I love you’s still come jusy as easy and we are getting married!
Old Orchard Beach, ME.. it’s a tradition, its our spot. We make it a priority to go every year together, as a family. Well, Matt had the up most amazing idea. Friday night, right next to the pier, in the middle of the fireworks, Matt got down on one knee and asked Stephanie to spend the rest of her life with him. As his best friend, his partner, his side kick, and his wife. Stephanie could barely speak. She laughed, cried, peed her pants, and in the gyst of it all.. forgot to say yes, until he asked again! Oops! We now go back to that exact spot every year for a kiss. In that spot we are reminded of that amazing day where we chose to spend the rest of our lives together, we remember that as long as we have eachother, life isn’t all that bad.
