Some people say I wish I knew then, what I know now. For us it may actually be the opposite. Who would have thought that our 13 and 15 year-old selves would have known best. We met in July 1984 in St. Thomas USVI. As for Stephanie, it was love at first sight, as for Mark it was probably more what trouble can I get myself into. For 7 years we wrote letters to each other, writing about every day teenage life, such as how much we missed each other and, of course, confessing our undying love. A little secret, one of us still has their letters. The letters, phone calls and seeing each other 3 times lasted 7 years, and then like most young people life takes you in all different directions and down many different roads. After St. Thomas, Mark moved to LA to live with his brother, and then to Boston to attend Newburry College and then to Boston University. During this time, Stephanie went Colgate University. While in college they saw each other once in 1990 in Boston. But then life kept them moving. Mark moved to Miami in 1992 and Stephanie went on to live in NYC, San Francisco, and then in 2010 she moved to Miami. We like to think Fate had a plan for us. Never imagining after so much time had passed that we would find each other again. ...thank you Facebook. But let us add, Mark let another 7 years go by before he actually finally made his move! In 2018, Mark reached out to Stephanie once again, asking if she still rode a motorcycle (that is after he realized Stephanie was finally single)... real smooth Mark. LOL They finally made plans to see each other in 2019. Mark asked her out, and Stephanie said great, take me out to dinner on my birthday. Leave it to Mark to think, OMG she has no friends... Little did he know. Fast forward, she convinced him to leave Miami, move north to Pompano Beach...And since 2019, they have made a house a home, brought 4 dogs together, weathered 2020 and have shared more laughs to last us a life time.
