Like most modern couples Kevin and Stephanie met on a dating app, and after swiping right & talking for about two weeks they knew that they wanted to go on a date. Stephanie was living with her mom at the time and had told her she would be home in time for dinner - after all they were just meeting up for drinks. Dinnertime came & went and Stephanie didn't make it home until 11pm, floating in on cloud nine (without having eaten!). After the third date the apps were all deleted and Stephanie waited very patiently for Kevin to officially ask her to be his girlfriend only to find out on New Years Eve he thought she already was. Kevin constantly asked Stephanie to bring her cats, Pluto and Snowball, over to his apartment for a playdate, and halfway into their first year of dating Kevin got his wish and then some. Due to a variety of circumstances Stephanie really needed Kevin to keep the cats for about two weeks, which turned into three weeks, which turned into after Stephanie and her mom found a new apartment, which turned into forever. The cats lived with Kevin for almost a year before Stephanie managed to get him to agree to let her move in too! With the move-in date of April 2020 turning into March 2020 as threats of a global pandemic came rolling in, everyone joked that surviving a two week quarantine together would either make or break them. They were wondering a year later, still in quarantine, if they could officially mark it as "made it". By mid 2021 Stephanie started looking for new jobs when she came across an opportunity that would force them to move to Boston. After checking with Kevin three separate times and being reassured he didn't mind, she accepted her new position. By September they had bought a house and shipped up to Boston to start their next chapter in life together.
In October 2021 Kevin and Stephanie celebrated three years together, and with that came the discussion for "what's next?" While it wasn't the first time they had talked about engagement, it was the first time Kevin responded with, "I can see it happening before the end of the year." After a couple of trips to the jewelry store they had the perfect ring picked out, and it was just a matter of when would it come. They were hoping to have it before they went home to Connecticut in early December, but three days before they left their plans were delayed as the ring came in and it was not what they were expecting. They could send it back to be fixed but it would take about another week before it would be ready again. Begrudgingly they let it go, knowing it would delay their plans a little more and expecting to wait until their return to Boston to make it official. However just a few days later while home in Connecticut Kevin received a message from the jeweler that the ring was ready. Knowing that this was his best chance to surprise Stephanie, two days later he drove up to Massachusetts and back the same day to pick up the ring in time for dinner. Kevin told Stephanie that they were meeting his grandparents in town for dinner, conveniently choosing a restaurant that was located in downtown Fairfield right next to a perfect little gazebo all decorated for Christmas. Under the guise of taking a picture together Kevin convinced Stephanie to come into the gazebo before promptly getting down on one knee and asking her to marry him. After a moment of being absolutely shocked she of course said yes!
