Our story begins in January 2019 in Fontana, CA. Dave was on the 9th month of a "temporary" work assignment to help a struggling manufacturing plant. Steph was beginning a similar (actual) temporary assignment to the same site. The first day they met, they voluntarily stayed 2-3 hours after work to chat. Over the first couple weeks they bonded over tv, movies, games, music, all sorts of things. When Dave was re-located to Ohio to start the next "temporary" work assignment, Steph lobbied to be able to go as well. It was there in Niles, Ohio they started officially dating, although it quickly became a long distance relationship. Steph and Dave figured they had something special when long distance turned out to be pretty easy. Together they planned vacations or visits to each other, and spent hours on the phone every week. In 2020 Dave was a casualty of pandemic layoffs, which led him to look for jobs in Southern California. In 2021 Dave and Steph moved in together, and cemented their relationship by starting shared collections of movies, video games, books, and Pokémon cards. They also decided to be on and off annual passholders at Disneyland. Throughout the years, Dave and Steph worked hard to be understanding, patient, and supportive to each other: always making the other laugh through the tough days and continuing to celebrate their time together. In August 2024, Dave surprised Steph with a birthday visit to Downtown Disney. Upon arriving, Dave steered them into a small courtyard at the Grand Californian Hotel and proposed. It was followed by a surprise stay at the hotel and trip into the park. It was perfect. In March 2026, we will take this next step together, promising to write the rest of our life story together.
