How we met

7/27/19

We met at Danny and Kims wedding. Even though I knew her family, had been to her family's house for the Fourth of July, went to school with her siblings, played in the same outfield with her brother Micah and was a groomsman in her cousin Danny's wedding, our paths never crossed. Our moms were even in the same 4th grade class back in... well when they were the age to be 4th graders. "I heard you won a home run derby." That was the ice breaker that Steph used to start a conversation with me. I sure am glad she did. Being in the wedding, of course I was wearing the tuxedo rental shoes. I remember her asking me if I'd be able to dance in those shoes. I now know she was just trying to figure out if I'd be out on the dance floor. After a while I felt like she was hitting on me... (she was) I kept thinking to myself, "Why is my friend's little sister hitting on me?" I assumed she was off limits. After a dance with her sister, Linsey, she assured me Steph wasn't off limits. Needless to say the rest is history. Since then, not a day has gone by that I have not talked to her. We hit it off right from the start. She is definitely the one for me and I couldn't be happier. -Chachi

The propsal

3/12/20

We decided to take a family trip to Maui. What better place for a family vacation? After arriving in Maui we went to the most delicious food trucks and drove off to explore the island. Someone... (Chachi) thought we should go walk on the beach near sunset before we went to dinner at Miso Phat. While we were walking down, Chachi said he needed to go to the bathroom. I thought to myself... "Really? We just left the condo... and you're going to the bathroom again?" He must have just been nervous. While DJ and I took a bunch of pictures Chachi finally made his way down to the beach. Then we walked down a bit further... there were a lot of people there and I later found out that Chachi was surprised at how full the beach was and again... more nervous. Then Chachi asked DJ, "Hey DJ, I have a question for you. How would you feel if I asked your mom to marry me?" to which DJ responded, "That would be great." Chachi said, "Okay then, take some pictures." Then Chachi got down on his knee and I said, "You're freaking kidding me," Then he said something about loving me forever and I make him so happy... to be honest I don't remember everything because I was so happy and crying and full of shock. Which lead to me obviously saying "YES!" It made the rest of our week long vacation so memorable and is to this day the best vacation ever. I can't wait to marry him.
