Tall Drinks, Two Stepping, & Texas BBQ

Steph & I met on a hot and humid night in West Palm Beach, Florida. By circumstance of our careers, we were both temporarily living in Florida and coincidentally weren't looking for "the one" at the time. During Steph's first weekend in town, a group from work decided to meet up and explore Clematis Street in downtown WPB. Within the first few minutes of meeting it was clear there was a special connection between us. I (Austin) specifically remember being awestruck by how polite Steph was (she even offered me her seat so that I could join in on a conversation around the dining table). Neither of us could place what this feeling between us was, but we both wanted to explore it more and find out where it might take us... Fast forward a few hours to the rooftop patio at Roxy's Pub. We quickly kicked the party up a notch by taking a couple Green Tea shots. Little did we know that would help start our conversation about each others' lives...including Texas country music. Steph had already thought Austin was cute (extremely tall & good looking.... but blondes "weren't her type") when he later mentioned liking Turnpike Troubadours she fell in love on the spot. We spent the rest of the night dancing with our friends and learning as much as we could about each other. A special shout out goes to Maddie (Steph's Sister) for staying up to make sure her sister got home safe and sound.... after she had Austin walk her home an hour in the wrong direction (Steph takes the blame for this).

We got engaged on July 3rd, 2021 at the property we're building our new home on! Austin drove me (Steph), Maddie (Steph's Sister), and Allison (Steph's Sister) out to our property with the story that we were showing it to his family that was in town for the weekend. That wasn't exactly the case.... as I was taking a video of the progress Austin was scheming with my sisters and next thing I knew Austin was saying the sweetest things down on one knee with a BEAUTIFUL ring while my sisters were already taking pictures and facetiming family! After the engagement, we met up with our families at Red Horn Brewery where we celebrated with cold beers and tasty treats (thank you Katelyn!!). Austin completely surprised me by inviting my family from Houston to celebrate with us - I had no idea they were even in town! We are so thankful to have such a supportive & amazing family that traveled to Austin, Texas to celebrate the special day with us.
