How we met

It started with Post It Notes...

April and I met in 2012 at a company that we worked at. From the moment we first spoke, I had to know more. What made her smile, what made her laugh, what filled her heart. It wasn't long before the post it notes started flying back and forth. We shared silly jokes, our favorite foods, what season of the year made us most happy, all via colorful squares of sticky paper. I learned that she likes mashed potatoes. She learned that I love winter. And we both discovered that our 5 year plan included finding love and building our futures. Many (many) years later and here we are. We have a beautiful family that is made up of 1 amazing teenager, 2 demanding cats, and 2 spoiled dogs. We have grown so much over the years. We have each made strides in who we are as people and what we want from this adventure we call life. We have grown as a family and as individuals. Life has changed and so have we. But no matter what has changed, two things remain the same... Our Love & Post It Notes

The Proposal

Killer ducks, Tulips, and Sparklers

March 2015 we had our first big fight. April was on edge, I didn't get why, and things escalated from there. We had plans to have dinner with a friend and I was just ready for the day to be over. Imagine my dismay when the friend is late. I now have a grouchy girlfriend and all I want to do is eat, have a drink, and go to bed. While waiting on the friend and annoyed at her lateness, April suggests we stop by Lake Lilly to take a walk. I figure it's not a bad idea, we can kill time and Raven can play at the park. Well, we arrive and it has recently rained. No park for Raven. April suggests we take a walk. I agree in hopes that it will distract us until my friend is on her way. We begin to walk around Lake Lilly and I hear a rustling coming from the bushes. Out of nowhere comes a duck flying at me (it was murderous I say!). After the near attack we continue to walk and when we turn at the bend I see the Gazebo to my left decorated with candles, tulips, and a post it note covered sign. When I look to my right I see people I love dearly approaching with sparklers. When I look back at the Gazebo, I see the woman I love on one knee. It was the single best moment in my entire life (thus far).
