How We Met

"I know we just met, but I need you to play along!"

Our story began in a somewhat unconventional, yet conventional (modern) way when we each 'swiped' on each other online. Alan was seeking friendship in a new state, and Stephanie was happy to oblige. What started as messages via the dating app, turned text messages via the 'fake number' became HOURS of conversations, proving a truly undeniable connection. After just 5 short days of talking, it was decided it was time to meet in person at a local bar for a quick drink. There was just one small problem- Stephanie only had ONE hour, and Alan was caught in downtown Portland traffic. While waiting at the bar, staff began to doubt whether her date was going to show, and started chatting Stephanie up. Does she stay and hope he shows? Does she bolt and avoid the embarrassment? Lucky for Alan, she doesn't shy away easily and decided to wait for his arrival, even if it was only for a brief meeting. When he arrived, Alan was hopeful Stephanie would still be there and Stephanie was hopeful he would play along with the plotline she painted the staff... Greeted with a hug, words were quickly and quietly exchanged-"I will explain later, but I need you to pretend to be my boyfriend..." Alan quickly accepted the challenge, eager to help, curious about the woman he just met. 30 minutes turned into 45, turned into a second drink, and appetizers. The conversation flowed effortlessly, the laughs came easily, and what began as an online connection quickly became something so much more. After a kiss goodbye, it was clear that this was just the beginning of something incredibly special...and the rest is history!

When He Asked For Forever

"Look at this treasure!"

2 years, 5 vacations, 15 beach trips, COUNTLESS soccer games, school events, date nights, house projects and slow Sunday mornings led to this... A random drive to our favorite beach...coffee in tow, he let her take her passenger princess nap on the way out. The rain was light, the skies were grey, the tide was just barely coming back in. The tide pools were showing off, there were beach treasures abound and nobody in sight....a true beach combers dream. A little after noon on March 8th, just Stephanie and Alan (and the surrounding sea creatures)...."Babe, look at this treasure I found." Stephanie turned from the tide pool she was exploring to find Alan, down on one knee so calm, so cool, so collected. The words were so beautiful, describing the life they built together, expressing the excitement for stories and memories yet to come. He asked her for her forever, and with tears in her eyes she said yes!
