In 2016 Stephanie and Abiel met while studying medicine abroad in Guadalajara, Mexico. In the early years, they were close friends, but God's plans were different. They went from being friends to having a relationship; they fell in love and decided to walk this life together. They met each other families and began their love story.

For an entire year, Stephanie lived in Puerto Rico, working in a hospital. Abiel got into residency to specialize in Internal Medicine in San Antonio, Texas. So for a year, they were long-distance. In March, both received the news that Steph had made it into the same residency in Abiel's hospital, so they began preparations for her to move. At the end of June 2022, Abiel went to Puerto Rico to help Stephanie move to San Antonio with him. What Steph didn't know was that he was going with another purpose. Abiel had made reservations at a beautiful resort in Isabela, Puerto Rico and Steph's family also happened to come to visit. The day Abiel was arriving, his flight was delayed for almost a full day, but that did not stop the surprise. When Abiel arrived, Steph didn't imagine anything; she just thought they might be having a mini vacation before starting residency. Two days passed, and nothing happened; they were enjoying vacation. So if Steph imagined something, she thought nothing was going to happen. On the third day, they decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant, which is very elegant and Steph, as always, took hours to get ready. When it was finally time to go out to the restaurant, Abiel told Steph that he had one more surprise, and at that very moment, she knew. Abiel had prepared everything, took her outside, got down on one knee, and finally asked her to marry him.
