Steve and I are so excited to be moving forward with our upcoming celebration. When we postponed our original date we never imagined things would be as they are now. Life has gotten a little confusing for all of us with this new "normal", but if there is one thing we are certain of it's this: We will say "I do!" again and again and... you get it. We look forward to having everyone join us on our special day as we renew our vows and celebrate our marriage with the people that matter the most. We will be holding our official ceremony and celebration on May 29, 2021. We hope to see you there!
Steve and Stephanie got engaged during a hot and passionate summer full of... Dierks Bentley! Steve was sweating bullets as he spent the entire week prior trying to outsmart his curious girlfriend. She even tried to face-time him while he was purchasing her engagement ring! Not to mention dropping the ring itself while going through concert security. It all came down to this moment. It was the time, the place, and the song. When Dierks Bentley started singing the song "Women, Amen," he knew it was time. His oblivious, eager girlfriend tried to shoo him off to listen to her favorite chorus: Every night I should be on my knees Lord knows how lucky I am I'll never say near enough Thank God for this woman, Amen It suddenly hit her at his insistence what was happening and before he could say "marry me," she said "I do!"
Steve and I met in a shed. I know! Who meets in a shed? We did. We were both volunteering at church that night on October 31st, 2018. It was a late night and clean up was underway. We were the last two volunteers there and neither of us realized it. I went to go look for a rake to clean up popped balloons and that's when I found Steve. He was so eager to serve and offered to come join me. My heart leapt and I knew I had met the one.
I met Stephanie while cleaning up after the Harvest Party at Cornerstone Chapel. I was bringing stacks of chairs into the shed when I heard a sweet voice ask me over my shoulder if there was a rake inside. I turned around and saw her, she was beautiful and looked as sweet as she sounded. I told her “There has to be a rake in here somewhere ,” and found two of them. The whole time I was trying to sneak in looks at her ring finger and I later found out she had been doing the same. We started cleaning up together and talking with each other. Right away I knew that she was going to be somebody special in my life. It must have been obvious because somebody at church asked her if we were married within a few minutes of us meeting.
We got married! We had a small ceremony with just the two of us and immediate family (and of course the maid of honor and best man were present!) It is unfortunate that we were not able to include all our friends and loved ones in our celebration due to COVID-19 restrictions. We planned the ceremony in two weeks once we realized we would have to postpone another year. It would have been a difficult decision to include some and not the rest. We hope you can share in our joy with us as we move into a new future and join us for our official ceremony and celebration May 2021
