We officially tied the knot back in 2020, but between a pandemic, three kids, home renovations, business ventures, and life generally moving at full speed, we never got to have the wedding celebration we always dreamed of. So while the paperwork is already done, this weekend is very much our wedding. We would love for you to join us in celebrating our re-wedding with as much love as we did the first! Bring your dancing shoes, your appetite, and your beautiful selves. We've been waiting a long time ❤️
As our nearest and dearest, you all know us. But each of you knows a different piece of our story. Some of you knew us when we were carefree twenty-somethings living for spontaneous adventures. Some have watched us become parents, helped us renovate houses, build businesses, or survive complete chaos. So we thought we'd take this opportunity to share the whole story. We met in 2016 at a party for mutual friends. Richard asked for my number, and before we even went on our first date we were spending hours on the phone every night. I remember getting nervous because I was already falling for him. What if I didn't actually like him in person? ….. Thankfully, that wasn't a problem. Our first date involved sushi and chocolates, and I was somehow even more attracted to him than I remembered. Later, he brought me back to his apartment.....Don't worry family, this is a PG story ;) haha.......What I found was a hammock stand, a few vintage chests, incense bowls, and an impressive collection of rocks. For some people that might have been a red flag. For me, it was perfect. We shared our first kiss and I swear there were fireworks. I remember thinking, "Oh no... this is my person." The year that followed felt like something out of a movie. We were completely obsessed with each other. We spent our days exploring logging roads in my trusty old Subaru, camping on a whim, rock climbing, fishing, skiing, wild harvesting, and discovering every river, waterfall, lake, and beach we could find. But eventually, we realized that if we wanted the future we dreamed about; a family, a home, a little piece of land, and the freedom to build a life on our own terms, we had some work to do. We were carrying a TON of student debt, hadn't finished our degrees, and were living paycheck to paycheck in a basement suite. We had absolutely no idea what we were doing, we just knew we wanted a life together. So we did what any reasonable people would do…….We bought a short bus and turned it into a tiny home. I’m so incredibly thankful we did, because that bus became the first step toward everything that followed. The year and a half we spent in the bus was one of intense introspection, goal setting and soul searching. We created the “dream life” list and used it as our guiding star. It led us to many big changes and accomplishments. Richard finished his Electrical Engineering degree while working full-time, and I finally realized that I wanted to study herbalism, teach yoga, and build a life centered around health, connection, and family. When we sold the bus we bought our first fixer-upper, got married, welcomed our first baby, renovated and flipped the house, paid off our student debt, moved across the province to our dream property, welcomed two more babies, built businesses, built a homestead, adopted far too many animals, and took on more ambitious projects than we can count. It’s been a wild ride. And through all of that, we've built a life that feels deeply aligned with who we are and what matters most to us: family, connection, community, adventure, and making memories instead of waiting for someday. And that's why this celebration means so much to us. Over the years, our lives have grown in many directions. We have family in different towns, friends from different chapters of life, cousins we never see enough, and people we love who have never even met each other. Yet every one of you has helped shape our story. This weekend isn't just about celebrating our marriage. It's about bringing all the people we love together in one place. Beach days, campfires, lawn games, shared meals, late-night conversations, old friends meeting new friends, and taking a moment to look around and realize just how lucky we are. When we picture this weekend, that's what we see. A celebration of a love story that started with sushi & chocolates and somehow grew into this big, beautiful life. We can't wait to spend this weekend with you.
