While we love to watch your children run and play, this is an adults only kind of day.
First Contact.... Stephanie had been at Insight for two weeks when she was in a team building meeting where the topic focused on the recent personality assessments HR had them take. There was a guy speaking on the phone and to the best of her knowledge he was a remote worker from somewhere in the MidWest. Reid had been working remotely at Insight for about 5 weeks and was participating in the same team building event--but was participating over the phone due to his location. He heard some girl talk but was zoning out, as people working form home often do, and didn't think anything more of it. Two Weeks Later.... Stephanie had been floating from desk to desk as she hadn't been assigned a space in her team's row yet--so you can imagine her excitement when she found out she was going to have a home for a few days while another peer was traveling. That same day, some guy with a ginger beard strutted by in a bright yellow/gold ASU polo talking up everyone in the row but her--which she was thankful for because she doesn't like to talk to people at work anyways. Reid had his first physical day at the office, his days of working remotely in Denver were over--he had to move back to Arizona for this job opportunity. He also didn't have an assigned seat yet. As he was walking up and down the row introducing himself and conversing with people, he walked past this blonde-haired, light-eyed gal and locked eyes with her. **FLUTTER**. He was done for.
The Next Day.... Stephanie gets to work and heads to her "temporary home" to get started for the day, only to find this ginger bearded dude sitting in her seat. "Uh, you're sitting in my seat", she says. Reid looks around and says, "No, I'm not. This is Kelsey's desk and Levi told me to sit here because she's traveling." Stephanie then storms over to her boss, says some things, and Reid gets kicked out of his seat while a smirking Stephanie sat down and said "Know your place, and wait your turn dude." .......As soon as Stephanie got logged in and comfortable, Kelsey came walking in. She had gotten back sooner than expected from her trip. BOOM! Instant karma right there.....
Later that day..... After the whole seat fiasco, Reid and Stephanie ended up scoring desks that just so happened to share a divider wall. They were both on a conference call when Stephanie got a LinkedIn request from "Reid Smith", that was the first she had heard his last name. Stephanie looked him up on their work directory and sent him a single worded instant message: "Stalker." There was some chatter back and forth, much of which Stephanie was correcting grammar, and a few complaints about Stephanie's boss, whom she would identify as Shrek via work communications, wasting their time on this call. One thing led to another and soon they landed at "warm apple pie". Stephanie was starting to feel some attraction there, but that bright yellow/gold ASU polo was still prominent in the back of her mind--first impressions are important people.
The following Monday..... Stephanie arrives at work and her new work friend was no where to be found. She didn't think much of it, but was back to twiddling her thumbs because they didn't have much for her to do at the time but watch training videos and read the most tedious technical literature. Then she gets an instant message, it was from Reid. "What's up blondie? Any fun calls with Shrek today?" Stephanie says, "No, why aren't you in the office? I might die from lack of stimulating conversation." Reid shares he's in Florida for a family vacation and wouldn't be back until the following week. Stephanie says "You better be, because if not...I will find yoooouuuuuu!" After a few more back and forth jokes, Reid logs off for the day leaving Stephanie to wilt away at the office. Within minutes though, Reid adds her on a few more social media platforms and they begin to share pictures of their day and commenting back and forth with more playful banter. It wasn't long before it was clear that this was something worth exploring further.......
Reid had asked Stephanie to lunch several times and she finally said yes. They went to Hill Spot Cafe and from there, they went to several happy hours and decided to make this something official.
After several lunch dates and a few happy hours, the conversing when they weren't with each other increased. Reid had to fly back to Denver with his friend Kasey to help him drive his Jeep back. After a few airport cocktails, Reid texted Stephanie and told her he was going to marry her--to which Stephanie replied, "Go home Reid, you're drunk." It didn't stop there though, the whole drive back from Denver, Reid and Stephanie were texting each other. Kasey finally had to ask him if he was texting "that girl". That's when Reid shared his feelings about her.
After the Denver trip, the two were inseparable, this was basically the whole story until a year later, they found out they were pregnant. The two didn't want to rush an engagement or wedding, so they decided to hold off until after their precious Nash was born to make any other large life adjustments. And now, they are getting married!!!!
