The moon was resting high in the Carbondale sky. The refreshing spring breeze drifted in between our stare as we locked eyes for the first time outside of the Phi Kappa Tau house. I turned to my friend and said "this is the girl". Now if you ask Stephany, she will probably tell you that she doesn't really even remember meeting me. She will then follow that up with that she sure is glad that she did. The 2016 spring semester came to an end, and I traveled my 5 hours back north to Plainfield, IL while Stephany adventured the 2 hours back to Belleville, IL, leaving us 4 hours apart for the summer. The conversations continued, but sadly, that is where our story was put on pause. While we had remained friends, it took me a while to realize what Stephany and I truly had and by then we both had significant others at our sides. Take us back to one more spring night right before summer of 2017 officially started. We spent the evening celebrating the graduations of close friends and then stayed up talking until sunrise. Just the two of us, on a porch couch, forging a plan to make "us" happen. That night accompanied the start of forever. June 10th 2017 led to two kittens, an apartment together in St. Louis, MO, and endless adventures. Finally to our most exciting adventure yet, February 5th 2021, where I gave Stephany the biggest birthday surprise overlooking the vastness of Utah and asked her to marry me.
