As much as we adore your little ones, our wedding day is an adults-only celebration. We’d love for you to take this as an opportunity to unwind, celebrate, be present with us and truly let your hair down with us—because also how often do you get to do that?! That said, we know not everyone has the option to leave the their babies and children at home, and we know traveling with family can be a big part of making special memories, so the little ones are more than welcome to join in on our welcome event. We anticipate around 20 babies and children at our welcome event, so we hope you can understand why we have decided to have our wedding day as adults only. As the wedding is adults only, if you do need a babysitter, we’ve found a wonderful babysitting service in Wanaka that comes highly recommended: Lake Wanaka Baby Sitting https://www.lakewanakababysitting.co.nz/ info@lakewanakababysitting.co.nz They have multiple experienced sitters available who can care for babies and children of all ages, from babies at mini months old to older children, individually or in small groups if families want to stay together and share. Rates: From $30 NZD per hour (3-9 hours) From $45 NZD per hour (9+ hours or after midnight) $30 agency fee per sitter/day (required in advance) We hope you understand and we just can’t wait to celebrate with you all! xx
We’ll be organising a shuttle bus to do one pick up and one drop off in central town Wanaka. 100 Ardmore Street, the Lakefront is the address. Bus pick up time will be 2:20pm and drop off back to this bus stop will be at 11:30pm. As this is right in town, the bars will still be open if you want to head out after. If you are driving, please aim to be at the venue between 2:30 - 2:45pm at the latest.
Think Cocktail Garden Party. Lake Wanaka brings views similar to Lake Como—and with Danny’s Spanish heritage, we’re adding a little Mediterranean flair to the day! Think spring colourful tones, effortless elegance, and a hint of European flair. Men: Suit up! Ladies. Dress to impress! Once the sun dips behind the beautiful snow capped mountains, it can get a little chilly—so don’t forget a jacket or something cozy to keep you warm while you dance the night away! We will have heating inside for the reception.
1. Fly: The closest airport to Lake Wanaka is Queenstown (ZQN) and you can book direct flights with Virgin Airlines from Brisbane (BNE). Qantas and Jetstar also fly there however are not direct from Brisbane, they have flights with a stop in Sydney. 2. Drive: From Queenstown Airport, Lake Wanaka is approximately a 1 hour drive scenic through the stunning New Zealand scenery. You can hire a car from the airport or arrange a shuttle service. We recommend booking a car in advance as they might not have some available at the airport upon your arrival. By Car: Take the State Highway 6 north towards Wanaka. The journey is breathtaking, passing through the Remarkables and Crown Range. This is one of the most scenic routes in the country. We would recommend hiring a car so you can explore inbetween the area's of Queenstown and Lake Wanaka. By Shuttle: Several shuttle services operate between Queenstown and Wanaka, such as Wanaka Queenstown Bus or Alpine Connexions.
Because who doesn’t love a holiday? For us, a destination wedding is about more than just the big day—it’s about creating memories with our nearest and dearest in a place that feels magical. While the ‘wedding day’ is about celebrating our love and this incredible milestone, we wanted this to be an experience you’ll cherish too—a holiday that’s as unforgettable for you as it is for us. We chose this breathtaking destination because its towering, snow-capped mountains feel like a gentle nod to our special snowy engagement—without actually being in the snow. We also love our vineyards and have many memories visiting vineyards all around Australia together, so we are excited to experience another one together, on what will be the most special day with our loved ones. Lake Wanaka is a place where serenity meets adventure. It’s a slice of paradise that combines romance with the kind of beauty that stays with you. We hope this isn’t just our bucket-list moment—it’s yours too!
The closest airport is Queenstown to Lake Wanaka, which is about an hour’s scenic drive to Wanaka. Alternatively, you can fly into Christchurch, which is a 5-6 hour road trip. If you’re planning an extended holiday, the drive from Christchurch is iconic, offering incredible views and amazing stops along the way—perfect for a leisurely adventure!
We recommend booking your flights and accommodation as soon as possible to secure the best deals.
We highly recommend travel insurance to protect against any personal cancellations, flight delays, or unexpected mishaps either before you travel or while you travel. Providers like Covermore, Allianz are more premium in price. Travel Insurance Direct and World Nomads offer affordable options to give you peace of mind. Some credit card providers also include travel insurance - if you have a credit card check with them as you could already be covered.
You know us—we’re all about relaxed, good vibes, party vibes! Expect plenty of laughs, happy tears, and celebratory whistles and cheers! It’s going to be a very informal day filled with love, joy, and lots of reasons to squeel “Wooo hooo!” After all... we have all waited for this day for a long time ;) so this is a celebration, not just a ceremony :) Bring your party shoes!
We want you there and as present as possible, so let's aim to not use our phones for the ceremony and let the professionals have the floor. Otherwise happy snapping for the rest of the wedding! We would love to see your memories in our shared folder post wedding.
Lake Wanaka and the Queenstown region are surrounded by stunning, snow-capped mountains. While it will be springtime, you can expect temperatures similar to a Tasmanian spring - Mild, sunny days when the sun is out, with cooler mornings and evenings before and after sunset. Average temperate sits around 16 - 20 degrees so pack layers to stay comfy. And for the brave, the lake makes for a very refreshing and memorable spring ice bath experience with a view!
