Things To Do

If you're making a trip out of the weekend and exploring downtown, please feel free to reach out to Steph and Chase for more recommendations! Steph has many more for downtown Chicago :)

Downtown La Grange, IL

We recommend spending time in Downtown La Grange- the town where Steph grew up. It’s a charming, walkable neighborhood full of small-town character and big flavor, just a short drive from Burr Ridge. La Grange is packed with great restaurants. Some of Steph's favorite local gems: - Palmer Place – A longtime staple with a huge beer garden and even bigger burger list. - The Elm – Stylish and modern, perfect for cocktails and elevated American dishes. - Lucca’s Pizzeria – Steph's favorite go-to for dinner out when back in town- A delicious neighborhood italian restaurant. - Casa Margarita – Always good for tacos and margaritas. - Barrel House Social – Great for dinner and drinks, with a fun, laid-back atmosphere. - Kama Bistro – A modern twist on Indian cuisine with an upscale vibe and incredible flavors. - Milkstop Café – Elevated American classics in a restored 1920s train station. - Fourteensixteen – New American cuisine with rooftop dining and a sleek bar scene.

If you make your way into the city, you're in for a treat. A must-do is a Chicago Architecture River Tour. This boat cruise sails along all three branches of the Chicago River, offering breathtaking close‑ups of over 40 of the city’s iconic buildings—including the Tribune Tower, Wrigley Building, Marina City, and the Willis (Sears) Tower—with fascinating stories from expert guides throughout. Even as a local, this tour never gets old.

The Second City

230 West North Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614

If you’re looking for laughs, The Second City is a Chicago comedy landmark — and it holds a special place in Steph’s heart! She spent years taking classes and performing improv and sketch comedy here before moving to Denver. Comedy legends like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Steve Carell, and Chris Farley all graced this stage in their early days.
