Our story

Every love story is beautiful but ours is my favorite

2012 Cam and I started off being best friends right away after we met. I was attending college at UMass Boston while living in an apartment complex across the street called Harbor Point. Cam was attending Wentworth and lived in the same complex with friends from high school. My freshman year we met on Halloween at your typical college party.... But then we didn’t see each other again for a couple of weeks and ironically met up after attending a UMB hockey game since we both grew up with hockey being an important part of our families. We then started hanging out with the same people and his roommate/good friend Karl gave Cam my number, after Cam supposedly kept asking about me ;). He said it took him a while to get the courage to text me until we were both the only two sober people at your typical house party and then after that we hung out off and on throughout November and December. We had our first actual date December 21st 2012, the day the world was supposed to end and I knew then I could have spent the rest of my life with him. That was also the same night I got to meet his beautiful family and see where he grew up. We then continued seeing each other but Cam didn’t ask me to be his “official Facebook girlfriend" until June 12, 2013 during the playoff Bruins game against the Blackhawks in front of all of his roommates (so how could I have said no?) Fast forward through us dating and going on adventures together the next 4 years to moving in together in Abington in October of 2016. We have been lucky enough to share such great memories over the years and we have been each others biggest supporters helping one another follow our dreams!!

The proposal

April 15, 2017

2017 Cam’s 25th birthday was on April 17, 2017 so I wanted to throw a surprise party at our apartment, the Saturday before to celebrate! However little did I know that the same day of my surprise, ironically he was also trying to surprise me. (He’s also really good at learning about the surprises before they happen). Cam planned a date day since he was traveling to fun places for work and I just got back from a girls trip with Brenna visiting our friend Emily in Cali! We went back to where it all started, Harbor Point. There’s a beautiful Harbor walk that overlooks the harbor and the city of Boston right where our apartment complex was. It was such a beautiful day I remember thinking how warm and sunny it was for April! In the middle of our walk we stopped and looked out at the harbor and I could tell something was up when Cam said stand here and take off your sunglasses... he then got down on one knee telling me how much he loved me and how this was where it all started and said, “Stephanie, will you marry me?” Or at least that’s what I remember because I blacked out and he said I didn’t answer him for a long time. I asked if he was kidding and started laughing while tearing up. We still don’t know to this day if I actually said yes... He is such a sweetheart that he designed my ring on his own with the help of a jeweler and even brought my parents with him! He also had planned out to have our families there to take pictures which was another surprise when I saw them all pop out from different spots on the path! I couldn’t have asked for a better day because when we got home our apartment was filled with friends and family to celebrate Cams 25th which ended up celebrating our engagement! We are now counting down the days til we get to say “I do” on the other side of the Harbor walk overlooking the beautiful city of Boston and where it all began, with all of our beautiful family and friends with us by our side on our special day, July 5, 2019!
