In a last ditch attempt at online dating, Stephanie signed up for Match.com and came across a profile that caught her eye. A cute guy was pictured riding a bike in a triathlon and running across the Golden Gate Bridge. But the picture that really put it over the top was of him in a full body Christmas tree costume. Her first thoughts were, he's athletic and likes to have fun! A gut instinct told her to message him. As fate would have it, Alex's subscription was ending just as hers was beginning. So they swapped numbers and continued to talk for a few weeks. During that time, Alex proved to be ever so witty and the conversation came easily. The only catch was that he was on a two week vacation to visit his cousin in California. The first date would have to wait until he returned. Soon enough, they went on their first date at Dave and Busters where the fun would just begin.
After a bucket list vacation to Hawaii, Alex and Steph flew to their annual vacation spot, San Clemente, CA. During those last two days before heading home, Alex had one more trick up his sleeve: a proposal at Disneyland. That morning, Alex woke up Steph before the sunrise. If you know Alex, you know this is a huge red flag. But she believed him when he said, "I'm so excited; let's go!" While on the bus to the parks, they met a season pass holder who talked up the improvements they had made to Cinderella's castle. That's when Alex knew he was going to propose in front of the castle. The only catch was that according to tradition, Magic Kingdom was the second park they went to. So, the proposal would have to be postponed while they spent a few hours at California Adventure riding some favorites like Guardians of the Galaxy. After this ride Alex complained about how the bag (where the ring was) kept flying up and down in the air. He even gave Steph the bag to watch while he did a solo ride on the Incredicoaster. Luckily, even though Steph did go in the bag, she didn't see the ring box. Finally, it was time to head over to Magic Kingdom. Alex was relieved to finally be able to propose.....or not....First Steph wanted to get pictures with Goofy and then they had to rush to Space Mountain to use their fast passes. Finally it was time to propose, so Alex put the ring in his pant's pocket. Just as they got in line for pictures, a park attendant told them they'd have to come back because the marching band was coming through. The ring continued to stay in Alex's pocket for Indiana Jones and the Jungle Cruise. One hour later, they were back at the castle. Alex hinted to the photographer what was happening, and he tried to set them up in poses. Alex, though, was so nervous and couldn't follow the photographer's directions. Finally, he couldn't take anymore posing so he dropped to his knee and proposed. Steph was in complete shock. The crowd cheered and the rest is history.
