How We Met

Aug. 2017

"I feel God in this Chili's tonight." -Pam Beesley, The Office One of my best friends, and bridesmaids, Brooke, tried many times to introduce me to Josh. I had been single for two years, was attending nursing school at the time, raising two fur babies and had absolutely no time for a man. Not to mention that Josh and I lived five hours apart, in two different states. Nevertheless Brooke persisted, swearing that the two of us would instantly click. I was so against the idea of meeting someone that the first time Josh and I were ever in the same room together, at Brooke's wedding, I all but ran in the opposite direction of him so we wouldn't accidently run into one another.... I succeeded. But little did I know, Josh had no clue that I even existed. Later that night, after the wedding, a mutual friend asked Josh if he had met me yet. His response was, "who?" Lucky for me, Josh also had no intention of dating anyone at this time, no matter how hard Brooke tried. After two months of avoiding the discussion, Brooke and I met at the local Chili's in our college town to celebrate our last weekend before starting the last year of nursing school. Much to my dismay, Josh was conveniently in town to visit... I finally swallowed my pride and decided to still go to Chili's. The worst that could happen is we say hello to one another, right? Well thank God for Brooke's amazing match-making skills, my moment of weakness, and the Chili's in Durant, Oklahoma or else we would have really missed out on this whole "lifelong of happiness" thing!
