Question

What should I wear?

Answer

We invite you to dress to dazzle in rich, vibrant jewel tones—think emerald, sapphire, amethyst, and ruby. We’re asking guests to wear formal attire in these radiant hues to create a beautifully luminous gathering. Our official colors are gold and teal, so if you feel drawn to a tie, dress, jumpsuit, or accessory in those shades, go for it! Bonus points for silky, satiny fabrics that catch the light. 🌿💎 If you’re wearing a suit, black or blue suits are great—just find a jewel-toned tie to tie it all together! Since we’ll be sitting cross-legged on meditation cushions during the ceremony, long flowy dresses, jumpsuits, or comfy silk/satin pants might be the way to go. If you're wearing a dress, feel free to add yoga pants underneath for extra warmth and modesty during the Zen portion of the day. And if you’re wondering, “Wait… what exactly are jewel tones?”—no worries! Just reach out to Stella, and she’ll be happy to help. If you’re having trouble figuring out what to wear, we’re happy to help you find something or even loan you attire—just let us know! 👣 A Quick Note on Shoes If it’s not too cold, we’ll begin with a walking meditation around the Zen garden. We encourage comfortable shoes. You’ll also be removing your shoes before entering the Zen temple, so plan accordingly. As we get closer to the day, we’ll be keeping an eye on the forecast—so if snow or mud becomes a possibility, boots may be the best option! You might also want to bring a change of shoes for the reception, especially if you’d like to swap into something dressier after the ceremony. That said, if you'd rather remove your shoes during the reception you are welcome to do so. We can’t wait to celebrate with you in style! 💜💙💚✨

Question

Where should I park?

Answer

🚗 Parking Details! The Zen temple has limited parking, so we’ll be reaching out to some of you to park at our getting-ready Airbnb nearby and carpool over together—more time for pre-ceremony laughs! 😊 We’ll also be sharing additional details soon about parking at Janis’s home. Stay tuned, and thanks for helping us make this flow smoothly! 🚙✨

Question

What time will the reception end?

Answer

We’re planning for a soft ending between 9:00–10:00 PM, so you’re welcome to ease out when it feels right. No abrupt goodbyes—just a gentle transition as the evening winds down.

Question

Winter Storm Contingency Plan

Answer

March weather can be unpredictable—we might have a beautiful spring day or a surprise winter storm! Your safety is our top priority, so in the event of heavy snow, we will reschedule the reception at Janis’s house to Saturday, March 29th at 5 pm. We may still hold the ceremony on Thursday, as March 27th marks three years since we met, and we’re a little sentimental about making it official on that date! However, if snow prevents us from reaching the Zen temple, we’ll reschedule both the ceremony and reception, with the possibility of moving the ceremony to Janis’s house. We appreciate your flexibility and can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Question

The Tradition of Lune Poems

Answer

A lune is a short, three-line poem with a simple yet evocative structure—either 5-3-5 syllables or 3-5-3 words. Unlike haiku, lunes aren’t bound by seasonal references, making them a flexible and expressive form. This tradition was lovingly passed down to us by our dear friends and neighbors, Danny and Mira, who write lunes to mark rites of passage. We invite you to write us a lune—either spontaneously at the reception or thoughtfully crafted beforehand. Your lune will become part of a group installation art piece, written on your Polaroid photo. If you feel inspired to share yours aloud, we’d love that too! It can be a reflection of how you see us, your wishes, advice, or anything you feel moved to share. You are stars above, woven bright, hearts and paths aligned. Everything is waves, vibrations, love, meditation. Please write us a lune, we love you, we’ll lune you back soon! We can’t wait to celebrate with you and your words!

Question

Do you need any help?

Answer

Yes! We’d love any help you feel called to offer. If you’re up for it, we could use extra hands for: ✨ Decorating & Setup – Help us set up decorate and/or set up the outdoor food tent with heaters! 🍸 Setting up the bar – Because good vibes deserve good drinks. 🧹 Cleanup – Helping us wrap up the night with ease. Reach out to one of us if you're able to contribute in any of these ways! We appreciate you so much! 💕

Question

Can I contribute in any other way?

Answer

Absolutely! We welcome and cherish any offerings you’d like to share during the ceremony or reception. If you feel called to toast us, share a story, a poem, a song, lead a game, or guide a meditation, we’d love to weave it into the day. Anything creative that feels right to you—just reach out so we can incorporate it! We’ll also have an open space during dinner for anyone who feels inspired to share something impromptu. Your presence is already a gift, and anything extra is just a beautiful addition to the celebration! ✨
