We invite you to dress to dazzle in rich, vibrant jewel tonesâthink emerald, sapphire, amethyst, and ruby. Weâre asking guests to wear formal attire in these radiant hues to create a beautifully luminous gathering. Our official colors are gold and teal, so if you feel drawn to a tie, dress, jumpsuit, or accessory in those shades, go for it! Bonus points for silky, satiny fabrics that catch the light. đżđ If youâre wearing a suit, black or blue suits are greatâjust find a jewel-toned tie to tie it all together! Since weâll be sitting cross-legged on meditation cushions during the ceremony, long flowy dresses, jumpsuits, or comfy silk/satin pants might be the way to go. If you're wearing a dress, feel free to add yoga pants underneath for extra warmth and modesty during the Zen portion of the day. And if youâre wondering, âWait⌠what exactly are jewel tones?ââno worries! Just reach out to Stella, and sheâll be happy to help. If youâre having trouble figuring out what to wear, weâre happy to help you find something or even loan you attireâjust let us know! đŁ A Quick Note on Shoes If itâs not too cold, weâll begin with a walking meditation around the Zen garden. We encourage comfortable shoes. Youâll also be removing your shoes before entering the Zen temple, so plan accordingly. As we get closer to the day, weâll be keeping an eye on the forecastâso if snow or mud becomes a possibility, boots may be the best option! You might also want to bring a change of shoes for the reception, especially if youâd like to swap into something dressier after the ceremony. That said, if you'd rather remove your shoes during the reception you are welcome to do so. We canât wait to celebrate with you in style! đđđâ¨
đ Parking Details! The Zen temple has limited parking, so weâll be reaching out to some of you to park at our getting-ready Airbnb nearby and carpool over togetherâmore time for pre-ceremony laughs! đ Weâll also be sharing additional details soon about parking at Janisâs home. Stay tuned, and thanks for helping us make this flow smoothly! đâ¨
Weâre planning for a soft ending between 9:00â10:00 PM, so youâre welcome to ease out when it feels right. No abrupt goodbyesâjust a gentle transition as the evening winds down.
March weather can be unpredictableâwe might have a beautiful spring day or a surprise winter storm! Your safety is our top priority, so in the event of heavy snow, we will reschedule the reception at Janisâs house to Saturday, March 29th at 5 pm. We may still hold the ceremony on Thursday, as March 27th marks three years since we met, and weâre a little sentimental about making it official on that date! However, if snow prevents us from reaching the Zen temple, weâll reschedule both the ceremony and reception, with the possibility of moving the ceremony to Janisâs house. We appreciate your flexibility and canât wait to celebrate with you!
A lune is a short, three-line poem with a simple yet evocative structureâeither 5-3-5 syllables or 3-5-3 words. Unlike haiku, lunes arenât bound by seasonal references, making them a flexible and expressive form. This tradition was lovingly passed down to us by our dear friends and neighbors, Danny and Mira, who write lunes to mark rites of passage. We invite you to write us a luneâeither spontaneously at the reception or thoughtfully crafted beforehand. Your lune will become part of a group installation art piece, written on your Polaroid photo. If you feel inspired to share yours aloud, weâd love that too! It can be a reflection of how you see us, your wishes, advice, or anything you feel moved to share. You are stars above, woven bright, hearts and paths aligned. Everything is waves, vibrations, love, meditation. Please write us a lune, we love you, weâll lune you back soon! We canât wait to celebrate with you and your words!
Yes! Weâd love any help you feel called to offer. If youâre up for it, we could use extra hands for: ⨠Decorating & Setup â Help us set up decorate and/or set up the outdoor food tent with heaters! đ¸ Setting up the bar â Because good vibes deserve good drinks. 𧚠Cleanup â Helping us wrap up the night with ease. Reach out to one of us if you're able to contribute in any of these ways! We appreciate you so much! đ
Absolutely! We welcome and cherish any offerings youâd like to share during the ceremony or reception. If you feel called to toast us, share a story, a poem, a song, lead a game, or guide a meditation, weâd love to weave it into the day. Anything creative that feels right to youâjust reach out so we can incorporate it! Weâll also have an open space during dinner for anyone who feels inspired to share something impromptu. Your presence is already a gift, and anything extra is just a beautiful addition to the celebration! â¨
