FLIGHTS

There are three airports to consider depending on where you're travelling from. Bilbao (BIO) is our recommended arrival point for most, particularly those flying from the US or internationally. It has the widest range of routes and airlines, and the drive west along Spain's northern coast takes around two to two and a half hours. Santander (SDR) is a great option if you're traveling from the UK. Several Ryanair routes connect here, and it's a straightforward hour-and-a-half drive along the coast. Asturias (OVD) is the closest airport at just over an hour's drive, and the best choice if you're connecting domestically via Madrid or Barcelona. It's also great for those wishing to connect from Gatwick Airport (LGW)

Travel Note

CAR RENTAL

We recommend hiring a car. It's the easiest way to get to Cangas de Onís, and having wheels will let you make the most of the mountains and coastline while you're here! Public transport connections to the town exist but are limited.
