The union of Stefanie and Allen is a classic tale steeped in romance. Naturally, we connected via the dating app ‘designed to be deleted’, Hinge. Thankfully there must’ve been a glitch in the algorhythm that curates potential matches based on preferences such as distance. Since I’m from the small, town of Hanover, PA, I had my distance capped at 35 miles. Stefanie’s max distance was certainly less than 35 miles. Thankfully, some magical form of divine intervention allowed us to both appear as potential matches. The rest, as they say, is history. While the relationship quickly blossomed to love, you may be surprised to learn that it was initially a slow burn. You see, Stefanie was one busy bee. Always on the go. Always traveling. The self-professed nomad didn’t seem to have much time to meet. I may have actually messaged her a few times, ‘Hey, if you aren’t serious about meeting…’ to which she would assure me she was still interested and eventually reel me back in. Thankfully persistence paid off and after 2 months of intermittent messaging, I was able to secure a date with Stefanie on February 14, 2020. Before you ask, no, the day of the date was not intentionally planned. It just happened to be the first available Friday. The timing just happened to be fitting. A few great dates, which included a trip to California, has brought us to the present. Two years later, we bicker like an old loving couple, tag-team sports for the kids, and are anxiously planning and waiting on the arrival of a new baby. Stefanie’s professed nomadic spirit still lingers, and she persistently reminds me weekly of her intentions of one day having a summer house in London. My persistent nodding to Stefanie’s dream has kept her at bay. It’s a wonderful thing called compromise. We both feel incredibly blessed to have found one another and are so excited to build a family and fulfilling life together.
