Question

Why San Miguel de Allende

Answer

George and Steffi spent two months living in San Miguel during our nomadic era and fell in love with the city for its picturesque undulating hills, vibrant music, art scene and walkability. We are so excited to share our love of travel with our friends and family in this quaint city in Mexico. We love the idea of friends and family getting to experience the unique accommodations while being able to bump into one another on the street as you all explore the city we love. San Miguel is the canvas for our wedding and each event is meant to show you something unique that the city has to offer. The Fitzpatrick family lived in Mexico City for three years, where Steffi was born, so it is very special to have our loved ones here to celebrate our marriage.

Question

Where Should We Stay

Answer

One of the reasons we chose San Miguel de Allende is because of the amazing diversity of hotels and Airbnbs that provide an incredible sense of place for our guests. We will be staying at the Belmond, and have events at the Numu (a small room block is at the link on the travel page) and Hacienda el Sanctuario. We also have a discount code at Hotel Matilda, which is well located between the Thursday and Friday events. However, there are a number of great boutique hotels in the city and great Airbnbs. We highly recommend groups of friends look at Airbnb options together!

Question

How Do I Get to SMA

Answer

Taxis are available at the airport (QRO and BJX). These are safe and reliable and ordered through a taxi kiosk. Buses also run regularly and tickets can be pre-purchased online. Uber is also available. We strongly discourage renting a car.

Question

What is the Weather Like

Answer

San Miguel de Allende is located at 6,234′ in elevation and is nestled in the mountains north of Mexico City. You might need some time to adjust to the altitude. Keep this in mind when hydrating and drinking alcohol. It might not be as hot as you think! Expect it to be in the 70s during the day and the 50s at night.

Question

Wedding Weekend Attire

Answer

We like to think of these events in increasing level of dressiness. We hope you are inspired by the destination and having fun choosing what to wear! We recommend bringing a light sweater or wrap for the evenings and wearing shoes that are easy to navigate the cobblestone streets. Shoes: San Miguel is full of cobblestone streets and hills so block heels or flat shoes are recommended for the ladies. THURSDAY WELCOME DRINKS AT NOIA ROOFTOP AT NUMU HOTEL Attire: Sundresses and Festive Clothing, Jackets not Required for Men Bites and an Open Bar to enjoy sunset views. Held outdoors on a rooftop. FRIDAY ROMPEHIELOS AT HACEINDA EL SANTUARIO Cocktail Attire: Sun Dresses or Festive Clothing, Sport Coats Preferred, Suits and Ties not Required. Mexican Tapas and Signature Cocktails, Held outdoors in a courtyard. SATURDAY WEDDING CEREMONY AND RECEPTION AT LUNA ESCONDIDA Attire: Black Tie Chic, lean into colors, look and feel fabulous and fun. White tux jackets are welcome. Ceremony held outdoors, cocktails and reception will be indoors For further dress code inspiration for the wedding please visit this link: https://www.pinterest.com/Steffi_Fitzmagic/wedding-attire-inspo/ SATURDAY AFTER PARTY Yes, this event does go to 4am - because if you know us you know 4am on the dance floor is our favorite place on earth. Outfit changes are welcome, but not necessary. This is an opportunity to dress UP, not down. A Leo Sun and Leo Moon are getting married - Wear that outfit you've always wanted to wear, think glamorous and fabulous, fun and expressive. You and your outfit add to the decor and vibe! If you do have an outfit change there will be a coat check available upon arrival at Luna Escondida.

Question

Getting Around SMA

Answer

San Miguel is a very walkable city. Taxis and Ubers are available as well for those who might want them. While the city is walkable it is hilly and cobblestone, so consider this when packing shoes for the events! We will provide transportation to and from the ceremony on Saturday evening. Details and meeting locations to come.

Question

Gift Registry

Answer

We are so excited to have each of you celebrate our marriage. More details can be found under the registry tab. We just bought a home in Truckee, California and are so excited to be able to host many of you over the coming years - both during ski season and the beautiful summer months where we can enjoy Lake Tahoe! We would love to take our time to slowly decorating our home with pieces we love and treasure, and even some that we will find on our travels. Donating to our home fund allows us to take out time choosing pieces we love for our home.

Question

What If I'm Bringing My Kids

Answer

We will be providing sitter services on location at each event. While we love your kiddos the events are adults only. When you RSVP please let us know if you will require a babysitter for your little ones as well as their ages so we can plan accordingly.

Question

Is San Miguel Safe

Answer

When traveling it's always important to have your wits about you and your belongs protected. However, San Miguel de Allende is considered to be one of the safer and cleaner cities in Mexico. There is a large expat community here and the streets are well kept. We recommend bringing cash, ideally pesos, especially for shopping in the Mercado de ArtesanĂas, which is cash only. There are safe and reliable ATMs in the centro and at most hostels if you would like to withdraw cash when you arrive. Remember to drink bottled water only while in Mexico.

Question

What Does "Rompehielos" Mean

Answer

Rompehielos is the Spanish word for "icebreaker". In lieu of a Rehearsal Dinner we will be hosting a fun fiesta for all of our friends and family to get to know one another over food, drinks, music and storytelling.
