As cliché as it sounds, we met online. Right from the start, there was a connection that we both felt but I don't think either of us really understood. Fast forward though a couple weeks of quirky one-liners and cheesy dad jokes, and the day had finally arrived. It was Christmas day, 2019 and we were all set to meet in person for the very first time. I had asked her to meet me at Jordan Valley park because I thought what better setting for a first encounter than a cool Christmas evening in a park adorned with twinkling lights. We walked around that park for what turned out to be hours, swapping stories and further cementing the connection that had been slowly building for weeks. As our night drew to a close, our lips and fingertips about numb from the cool night air, it became time for that much anticipated yet anxiety inducing moment... the first kiss. I kept its short and simple, wanting be a gentleman and not over do it on the first go. And as we slowly separated, Payton had this look in her eyes and a grin on her face that in that moment set my heart aflame. Whether I knew it or not, in that moment, my heart became forever hers...
