how we met

It was the Friday before Fall finals, and I was in the Oklahoma State business building discussing a project with a group member. While I was there, this girl walked in and immediately caught my eye. I had crossed paths with her a few times walking to classes, but our only conversations consisted simply of a passing “good morning” or “how’s it going” while continuing to walk our separate ways. I had always thought she was extremely cute, but sitting there, I realized just how beautiful she truly was. I couldn’t stop glancing over at her, and I could tell she caught me doing it. I knew I had to walk over and introduce myself. Everyone was about to leave for Christmas Break, and this was the best opportunity I’d gotten to approach her; in my mind, this was my perfect chance. I went over, introduced myself, and chatted a bit before having to leave. I couldn’t get her out of my mind, though. Hoping I hadn’t completely missed my opportunity to get her number, I went back to the same place the following Monday on the off chance she would be studying there again. Sure enough, there she was! This time, I asked if I could take a seat beside her and sat down to talk. This was my first real opportunity to get to know her a little, and boy, was I loving what I was learning. She was incredible. Smart, sweet, family-driven, and above all, Godly. And I still couldn’t get over her beauty–a natural radiant beauty, not one she had to work to create. I got her number and immediately tried to come up with some excuse to see her again. She had already taken one of the classes I was in, so that night, I texted her and got her to agree to help me prepare for the final. The next evening, after taking her for a bite to eat, we went back to the business building for our study session.

I think she quickly figured out the entire “study date” thing was just a ploy for me to see her again, as we talked more than double or triple the time we studied. We lost track of time and soon were the only ones left in the building. It was late, but I didn’t want our time together to end. I had just learned Christmas was her favorite time of year, so I (very easily) convinced her to walk campus and look at the Christmas lights before I dropped her off for the night. It was by far the best “study date” I had ever been on. That evening Steffa White gave me a glimpse of what I wanted in my wife. - Trey
