Stefanie was Sean's Spanish tutor in high school. Sean was in a full leg cast on crutches and Stef could not stand him because he always came up with an excuse not to come to tutoring. Stef and Sean were reconnected when Stef was in Grad school. Sean worked with a girl named Abby, who was in Stef's PT class, at Dick's Sporting Goods. Sean convinced Abby to bring him up to Stef which she did multiple times. Stef decided finally to send Sean a message saying "So I heard you know Abby." The rest is history...

Stef had been teasing Sean for months that he needed to propose soon. Stef thought he would propose on their 4 year dating anniversary or on Thanksgiving with their families, but Sean was still waiting on the ring. Sean planned to propose on December 21st, Stef's late Dad's birthday, at Bold Rock Cidery where both of their families would be with them. He planned to propose after a romantic carriage ride or write "Will you marry me?" on a gingerbread house, but both activities were sold out. Stef asked their friends and families to go outside and take pictures. Stef and Sean took pictures with their friends and then gave their phones to their friends to take a family photo. Sean got down on 1 knee mid family photos and asked Stef to marry him.
