It all started at Best Buy during the end of the summer of 2015. Our mutual friend, Mark, was heard laughing across the store. He brought up a man, the sides of his head shaved and he had rather scraggly and patchy facial hair. "Stefanie! This is my friend I was talking about," Mark exclaimed. "Hi, I'm Kai and I'm an asshole," he bluntly stated. From there it was laughter and I haven't been able to get rid of him. He was right though. He had his moments of asshole-ry and still does, but he always makes me laugh. A year of distractions went by until he finally asked me out. Ahh yes. Can't forget that night! It was around 10:30 PM in July just outside the gym: humid air, heat, sweat and all that went with it. I remember him asking me in a pretty peculiar way: "So I was doing some thinking," he stuttered. "I was thinking that it would be a good idea if we went out." I never actually said "yes" though. Since then, our relationship began. There were good times, bad times, fun times and rough times just like every other relationship. Overall, we've always been there for one another since we first met. A year passed by since he first asked me out. Kai brought me to the Poconos Mountains for our anniversary. On July 27th, 2017, we went to Bushkill Falls. There wasn't any rain, but it felt like a wet day. We took photos of the rushing waterfalls and the flowers and the trees. When we got to the bottom of the trail, it was quiet. There was no one around and only the subtle sound of running water. When I turned to my left, he was standing next to me smiling. "I know you wanted a new necklace since Luna ate your last one," he started. "Yeah..." "So I got you something else instead of a necklace," he turned to me and showed a small black box. "Will you marry me?" THAT was when I said "yes."
