Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Stef Jenness and Will Clancy
Whidbey Island is a great place to explore for a few days. Check out some of our favorites in the area to hike, eat and drink! The island is also an amazing jumping off point to extend you stay before or after, with plenty to explore around the PNW. The San Juan Islands and Olympic National Park are both a short drive and/or ferry ride away, with gorgeous views of the Salish Sea.

Just a short drive from Coupeville, Deception Pass State Park offers breathtaking views and invigorating trails—perfect for guests seeking a memorable outdoor adventure during the wedding weekend. If you're not into hiking, the views from the bridge itself are beautiful, but hold onto your hat to not lose it in the wind! Goose Rock Trail: Embark on a moderate hike to the highest point on Whidbey Island, where panoramic vistas of the surrounding islands and waterways await. Lighthouse Point & Lottie Point Loop: A 2.6-mile trail that meanders through forests and along the coastline, offering stunning views of Deception Pass Bridge and opportunities for wildlife sightings. This is our favorite hike on the island! Hoypus Point Trail: An easy to moderate trail that provides access to serene beaches and offers glimpses of Mount Baker on clear days.

San Juan Islands

San Juan Islands

WA 98250

If you are looking to extend your stay, San Juan Islands is a great option, and visiting here inspired our venue choice! After a long weekend with a group of friends, an Orca pod sighting on our boat ride home slightly delayed us. We docked at Captain Whidbey to grab lunch, let the whales pass, and enjoy a magical September day. The rest, as they say, is history. How to Get There: Drive 50 mins to Anacortes. From there, you can catch a ferry to the San Juan Islands. San Juan Island: 1 hr 10m ferry. A delightful mix of outdoor adventures, historic landmarks, charming small towns, and beautiful natural scenery. Orcas Island: 35m ferry. With its lush forests, stunning lakes, charming villages, and breathtaking mountain views, it is perfect blend of rugged beauty and peaceful serenity. Lopez Island: 35m ferry. One of the more laid-back islands, find a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature. Whether you’re looking for outdoor adventures, beautiful beaches, or just a relaxing getaway.

Olympic National Park

We also highly recommend Olympic National Park! The park is unique variety of ecosystems, all contained within the park's boundaries. The park spans nearly a million acres and offers a little bit of everything. It's a 1 hr ferry/drive from Whidbey to Port Angeles - a perfect jumping off point to explore the park. Hurricane Ridge: Explore diverse hiking trails, each offering stunning views of the Olympic Mountains and the surrounding wilderness. Lake Crescent: A clear, glacial lake surrounded by lush forests & towering mountains. The Lake Crescent Lodge offers a picturesque setting for a meal or overnight stay by the lake. Hoh Rainforest: This is like stepping into another world, where the combination of towering ancient trees, lush greenery, and tranquil surroundings create a breathtaking and peaceful experience.
