We met at a high school bonfire, but sadly we did not exchange phone numbers. Thanks to a mutual friend, a few days later I received a text that simply said, "Hey it's Stefan". We went on a few dates during the summer before he went off to college. He came home to see me almost every weekend and after a couple visits he asked me to be his girlfriend, which is the first time he got on his knee to ask me a question (thanks to Catie) and luckily for me, not the last.
Stefan's rendition of this story is a bit different as he, of course, knew all along. For me, it all started Memorial Day weekend when I asked Stefan to visit. He declined as he was scheduled to travel to California... who works on a holiday weekend?! I was disappointed, but excited that at least Rebecca was visiting for the long weekend. However, on Thursday she made plans with her friends without me! My mom suggested we get manicures to mend my broken heart. After getting my nails done I told my mom I wanted to get my nails done every week until I got engaged. My mom laughed (in hindsight, probably too much) and told me that was an excellent idea. The next day, Rebecca apologized and told me we should have a "fancy breakfast" on Saturday. I agreed, but on Saturday morning I asked Rebecca if we could just wear casual clothes. As you can see from the photos, Rebecca said no. We went to Blondie's for breakfast and afterward headed to QD to get some ice cream. We were on our way home when Rebecca pretended she forgot her debit card. We were "coincidentally" right next to the park where Stefan and I had our first date. As we pulled in to turn around, I saw Stefan sitting on the swings and said, "did you guys know about this?!". I headed over to Stefan and asked what he was doing and he replied with, "Well, I wanted to ask you something." He got down on one knee, pulled out the ring and although the rest is a blur to me, I know I said yes! After we celebrated, he pointed out a photographer who was hidden to capture the moment, which explained the importance of the "fancy breakfast"! Stef had a picnic planned with the essentials.. wine, chocolate, and lunchables but, we decided to forgo the picnic and head back to my house for the mini-engagement party he planned with our families. It was the perfect day and after all the work from Stefan, Evan, Rebecca, and my mom, it was executed flawlessly.
