Destiny works in mysterious ways, and that's our case. We met on the internet. After talking for a few weeks, we decided to go have our romantic first date at Beaverton food carts. Conversation wasn't fluid because of Katherine's lack of English but Stefan did everything that he could to make things work. We harmonized by accident. That’s pretty much when we thought, “Okay. This could be something” and he we are.

The Rankin family went on a vacation to Hawaii. It was Katherine's first visit to Hawaii. Furthermore, we did so many fun things in Hawaii like snorkeling, paddle boarding, motorcycle riding on the streets of Honolulu and eating at delicious restaurants. However, one night we all went to a luau and had so much fun with the music, the dancing and of course the great time with family. After the show was over, Stefan asked Katherine to go for a walk on the beach. Stefan knew how happy Katherine was feeling and felt this was the perfect night to pop the question. We were walking on the ocean beach. Katherine could not stop talking about the beauty of the ocean which reminded her of her home. Stefan took her hand and said a few beautiful words and Katherine looked over and saw that he was down on one knee asking her if she wanted to marry him. Katherine screamed and cried "YES" and here we were engaged. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you.
