During summer orientation, the freshmen of Stonehill College gathered in the Sports Complex for a welcome ceremony. The facilitator requested that all new skyhawks stand up and look around: "you may not know it yet, but 50% of you are standing in the same room as your future husband or wife." Eyeroll. During undergrad, Griffin and Elizabeth seemed to always have a class or two together each semester, bonding over their shared (or lack of shared) interests; Photography, Sex Offenders, Terrorism, etc. Sometime during senior year that friendship seemed to spark into something more. The rest is history.
On August 19th, Elizabeth and Griffin were sipping wine and enjoying paella in the heart of Valencia, when Griffin suggested a walk to Jardin de Monforte. While the beach was a 4 mile walk away, the gardens were a shorter distance which seemed more enjoyable in the one hundred degree heat of the day. The couple wandered, taking pictures and enjoying the surprises of this little city garden; the flowers, the architecture, the turtles, the solitude, and the feral cats. They returned to their favorite spot within Jardin de Monforte. Under a beautiful archway, Griffin got down on one knee and asked, "Elizabeth, will you marry me?" It was a Monday for the books.
