We met freshman year of college in Physics class at Penn State Behrend. Ryan was wearing a Straub Beer shirt and Rachel knew he wasn't from Saint Marys. She asked him where he got the shirt and found out his mom was actually a Straub and half of his family was from town (small world). We only started dating two years later when we both transferred to Penn State University Park. We shared a lot of classes together and Ryan always tried to help Rachel in the classes she struggled in (Thermodynamics)!!! Our apartment complexes were right next to one another so we always would sit or stand next to one another on the bus and started hanging out outside of class.

One Tuesday night Ryan told me he was going to hangout with his friend in Indiana because he was off of work. He said he would only be home around 6, so when I got done with work don't wait around for him. Each year we exchange ornaments for Christmas to put on the tree and we hadn't done this yet. He said when he got home we would do our ornament exchange and then go out for dinner. So Ryan gets home comes inside and is like let's do the exchange. We didn't even make it out of the kitchen into the living room and he is opening the ornament I got him. It was cute and handmade by his friend. He gave me mine and I opened it and instantly started crying. The ornament said "First Christmas Engaged"! He got down on one knee in the living room and asked me to marry him! I was so surprised and it will be a great memory to have every year we put that ornament on the tree!
