At the time when I met Starry, I was working with my cousin on his food truck. We were up early that Friday morning cooking the food and preparing for a day of work at Reserve At Park West. The engine stopped working in my cousin’s truck and we called a tow truck so that we could still honor the commitment that we made to the community at Reserve at Park West. When we arrived a couple of hours late to the site Starry came outside to greet us. She asked us if we were okay and we told her yes and that we would just need a few minutes to set up. When we were finished setting up she came to the food truck to order food for herself. She asked me for a sample of the macaroni and cheese and I told her no. Till this day she has never forgotten that I told her no but since then I’ve been happily saying yes to her every desire. After she ordered her food she went back inside. I told my cousin that I was going to talk to her. A few minutes later she came outside to order her manager's food. At that time she asked me for my name. She made me repeat it twice because it didn’t sound like a Jamaican name. We talked and I asked her to put her number in my phone. She did and I texted her and told her that the food was ready and that she should come back outside. We continued to text and I asked her when I could see her again. She told me that Monday was a holiday and that I could meet her at the pool. Me, my cousin, and his daughter met her and her nephew Asé at the pool. We had a great time and we’ve talked everyday since…
I was working at an apartment complex as a leasing agent and we were tasked with finding food trucks for our food truck Friday series. My coworker scheduled a Jamaican food truck that I was looking forward to trying because I love Jamaican flavors. The food truck called us to state that they would be late but that they were coming. They eventually showed up and I went outside to greet them. They told me that they would be ready shortly. I asked Ronaldo if I could sample the macaroni and cheese and he told me no. I explained to him that the mac and cheese that I've had from Caribbean restaurants and in Caribbean countries in the past was never good. Against my better judgement I purchased it anyway along with jerk chicken and plantain. I told him that the mac and cheese was not good. He eventually let me sample the oxtail and other items that I wanted to try. By this time he had gotten a good look at my eyes and smile and couldn’t say no to me. The next time I came out to the truck he was playing music and he started to tell me about all of the latest music in Jamaica. I told him about the old reggae music that I like to listen to. He asked me for my number and I told him to write his number down because truly I was done dating and had no interest in dating at the time and he told me to put my number in his phone. I put my number in his phone without hesitation. He messaged me on whatsapp to make sure the number was real. We hung out at the pool the following Monday and we’ve talked every day since...
