The story starts with wedding VIP Lindsay Grau, Britt’s childhood best friend who met Vinnie in 2009 (on a memorable drive through the night to a 4-day music festival in Michigan). In 2012, when Vinnie was moving to California for graduate school and didn’t know anyone out there, Lindsay told Vinnie to meet Britt and Britt to meet Vinnie and very strategically said that if nothing else, they would have a great conversation together. Vinnie likes to recount that Lindsay also told him he would "love Britt's mind," which Britt does not hate hearing frequently recounted. So Vinnie moved out west and Britt invited him to a Jurassic Park-themed birthday party at her apartment in San Francisco. Ah, San Francisco in her twenties. Britt was one of six in a dank and dark apartment and living Harry-Potter-style in a room under the stairs with dimensions just larger than her double mattress. It didn't matter though because times were fun; Britt was working in the wine industry and not spending much time in her room anyway. On the other side of the bay, Vinnie was taking courses-- just some simple stuff like Advanced Engineering Mathematics, Statistical Mechanics, Fluid Dynamics, and Mass Transport-- getting settled into his new Davis digs, and plotting his courtship of this woman called Britt. The night of the party, Britt was wearing a toddler-sized neon yellow dinosaur costume, which wedding VIP Ben McClure picked up for her (and one for himself) on his way down from Napa. After some *minor* modifications to get the thing on, Britt and her friends were ready for the soiree. When Vinnie arrived, with felt stegosaurus plates running down his back, this shining she-dinosaur-shaped beacon of skin-tight velour swept him off his quadrupeds and he instantly knew: she was the one. About a month later, after Britt rescheduled a few (many) times, they went on a date, and as fast as you can say "meat steak," they felt they could never get enough of each other ever again.
