Our Story

We met at PIH Health Hospital on 4 pavilion, where we were both working. It was the beginning of covid where masks and keeping 6 feet distance was the way of life. Katie remembers that even with the mask on Javi had the sweetest eyes and the best eyebrows whereas Javi remembers Katie's eyes were beautiful. We both say one of the biggest things that attracted us to one another was the kindness we saw on a daily basis to the patient's that we cared for. One of our first conversations in the break room was Javier asked Katie for country song recommendations (he truly knew the way to her heart) Since then Javi has really started to enjoy country music and now shares new country songs to Katie. Our first date was at Oki Doki Sushi. Javi knew that Katie had never tried sushi before and really wanted to have her try something new on this first date. He, of course, made sure that the menu had chicken teriyaki just in case she hated the sushi. It was risky going to a sushi place but that turned out to be the best first date. Now, sushi dates are something we always look forward to together. We started dating in the heart of Covid and our dating life really consisted of car dinners after work, Jeep dates at the beach and just really being able to get to know one another in a simple way during a crazy time. We really love watching sunsets at the beach, traveling (we especially enjoy weekends away to La Quinta), dancing the night away or just in the kitchen together, cooking together, watching shows/movies together, spending time with family and game nights with our friends. We like to say that we truly did "find love in a hopeless place."
