A good place to get dessert. They serve doberge cakes by the slice and have good cocktails.
Beachbum Berry's Latitude 29
We have likely already taken you to Latitude! A delightful tiki bar on the edge of the French Quarter. Jeff "Beachbum" Berry is responsible for deciphering and resurrecting many of the classic tiki drinks.
Bearcat
John's favorite brunch / breakfast place. There's a lot more space and a nice courtyard at the CBD location so it's usually easier to get in there compared to the uptown location. Recommend getting the breakfast potatoes. Sometimes you can get in line using the Resy app.
Brigtsen's Restaurant
A long running neighborhood staple located in a house in the Carrollton neighborhood. It's a good place to get some classic New Orleans dishes with award winning service.
Bywater American Bistro
One of our favorite restaurants by chef Nina Compton (James Beard Award winner and Top Chef season 11 runner-up, Claire has a cameo in Episode 3).
Commander's Palace
It's the New Orleans restaurant. If you're here on a weekday, we recommend going for lunch (25 cent martinis). Dress code is strictly enforced.
Compère Lapin
Nina Compton's first restaurant in New Orleans. Recommend the Curried Goat with Sweet Potato Gnocchi.
Coquette
One of our favorite restaurants. Recommend trying the five course tasting menu.
Creole Creamery
Claire's favorite local ice cream parlour. They have lots of unique flavors.
Cure
One of the best cocktail bars in the city. If you want to try a Sazerac (the official cocktail of New Orleans) Claire recommends getting one here, preferably at happy hour when they're $6 (4-6PM everyday of the week).
French Truck Coffee
Great local coffee shop! Several locations!
Good Friends Bar
A favorite of Claire's mom (who recommends getting a Separator and adding Godiva liqueur, BYO Godiva liqueur).
Jewel of the South
Jewel is owned and operated by the one and only Chris Hannah. Their delightful courtyard is second only to a seat at the bar. (Food options are limited, recommended for a pre/post dinner cocktail experience)
La Petite Grocery
A favorite of John's mom by Justin Devillier (James Beard winner and Top Chef season 11).
Max Well, New Orleans
If you're looking for something healthy, this is a good option (vegan options).
Molly's at the Market
Sit in the window while enjoying a Bloody Mary or Irish coffee!
Oak
This is where we had our first date! Wine and small plates. Ale on Oak is their beer focused counterpart next-door / attached via a courtyard.
Parkway Bakery & Tavern
We're not the biggest Po' boys fans, but Parkway is a solid choice. Recommend getting it to go and walking over to Bayou St John for a picnic (you can get drinks to go as well).
Piccola Gelateria
John's favorite local gelato.
Ruby Slipper Cafe
They have grown into a chain at this point, but the food is good. We recommend the eggs cochon. You can get in line from an app before you arrive (Yelp last time we checked) and that's generally a good idea. There's probably a location near where you're staying.
Saba
Modern Israeli food by James Beard Award winner Alon Shaya (who Claire has been stalking for nearly 13 years). Our first "nice" dinner together on John's birthday in 2018.
Toups Meatery
If you have an aversion to vegetables, this is the place to go. We recommend getting the meatery board. (Isaac Toups, Top Chef season 13. He was also very active in feeding the community during the pandemic.)

Our neighborhood dive bar. Good classic & craft cocktails, events most weeknights.
