Ceremony

4:30 pm - 5:15 pm

Sweetest Heart of Mary Catholic Church
4440 Russell St, Detroit, MI 48207

Sweetest Heart of Mary has a storied history dating back to the late 19th century. Founded by Polish immigrants in 1889, the church was initially established outside the jurisdiction of the Detroit Diocese due to a dispute involving its charismatic pastor, Father Kolasinski. The church became a central hub for the Polish community in Detroit, offering religious services, education, and social support. Its Gothic Revival architecture, completed in 1893, is a testament to the community's dedication and resilience. The church was officially received into the Diocese of Detroit in 1894, solidifying its place in the city's religious landscape. Throughout the 20th century, Sweetest Heart of Mary played a crucial role in preserving Polish culture and heritage in Detroit, serving as a gathering place for generations of Polish-Americans and most is prominently known for its annual Pierogi Festival.

The Bride and Groom would love for all family members and the bridal party to stay after the ceremony for group photos in front of the altar. For everyone else, please feel free to head straight to happy hour at The Whiskey Factory. Photos at the church should only take about 20-30 minutes and then the bridal party will depart for group photos around Detroit before joining the rest of the guests.

Reception

The Whiskey Factory—Detroit City Distillery
1000 Maple St, Detroit, MI 48207

The Whiskey Factory in Detroit has a rich history dating back to the 1930s. Originally home to Goebel Brewing Company, it became a key player in Detroit's brewing legacy. In the 1960s, Stroh's Brewery acquired Goebel's and converted the building into a factory for producing Stroh's Ice Cream. Today, The Whiskey Factory is part of the Detroit City Distillery, reviving the site's historic roots by producing small-batch artisanal whiskies, gins, and vodkas. It serves as a premier event venue, blending Detroit's industrial heritage with modern craft distilling. The Whiskey Factory is a symbol of Detroit's resilience and creativity, honoring its past while contributing to the city's vibrant future
