The Story Of Us

As a couple of college freshmen at an MIT frat party, our story began under unique circumstances. Some of that may be because neither of us actually went to MIT, as we both were students at Northeastern University. As freshmen that, at the time, were not involved in Greek life, it was one of the few places that would let virtually anyone in the door for a good time. Although we both ended up at the same party, our only real interaction was smack talk as our mutual friend, Liz, played Matt’s roommate, Jon, in beer pong. Naturally, Talia was at Liz’s defense and Matt was at Jon’s defense…unsurprisingly, that didn’t catalyze an instant romantic spark. Though, fortunately and ironically, our paths crossed again the next school year. Sophomore year, Talia and Matt unknowingly lived in the same dormitory at Northeastern. Talia and Liz, the mutual friend, having had every freshman class together became very close, which meant Matt heard about and saw Talia more frequently. After weeks and months of Matt not so casually telling Liz that she should invite Talia to the various events he and his roommates constantly hosted, eventually Talia became a regular guest at Matt’s dorm. What proceeded from there is up for debate, as Talia believes that she made her interest quite obvious…the truth likely lies somewhere between Talia’s difficulties with giving subtle hints and Matt’s chronic inability to understand the opposite sex. Eventually, the hints landed and we had our first date, splitting blueberry pancakes, getting ready to host a Friendsgiving, and always mutually teasing Liz (Sorry, Liz…We still love you!). From then on we were largely inseparable— from near daily trips to the local convenience store for Vitamin water, Cherry Garcia ice cream, and watermelon sour patch kids, watching all 7 seasons of The Office (the last two were banned), and winning an intramural coed soccer championship. We found our little joys in countless things, big and small. From then on, we spent most of our time in college together, creating incredible memories and friendships. After years of dating, we moved into our first apartment together in September of 2022. As our journey has taken us from Cambridge, Massachusetts to Dover, New Hampshire, we have made many special memories together. Both of us gained two incredible brothers and in-laws and another set of loving parents, whom we love dearly. We pride ourselves on the fact that we’ve grown a lot over the years, but at the core of it all, we are still the same goofy, loving, and loyal souls. We still love pulling each other’s legs, exploring new areas of the world, hosting friends and family, and making trips to see the people we love. It’s so exciting to see where we have grown together and we cannot wait for this next chapter. We always say one of our favorite things is when worlds collide— having everyone from all stages of life come together is something that only happens once. We can’t wait to celebrate our love all together in September of 2025!
