The first day of summer classes in 2016, I was sitting with a friend in class when Garrett walked in. I knew him from some other music classes, so I tried to wave him over. When he finally did sit next to me, we joked about the class, bumped elbows when writing notes (he's a lefty and I'm right-handed), and just overall clicked. A month or two later when Garrett asked me out to our first date, I was nervous. Garrett took me to an Italian restaurant in town and we had a great time talking with each other. Neither of us wanted to leave! A couple days later, we visited a frozen yogurt shop together and a few days after that, we went to Dairy Queen where Garrett had his first blizzard. Our favorite date nights are just a simple dinner and a movie. But really, we both just value spending time together.

We had talked about marriage for a long time, even consulting with several close friends. When the day finally came to make it official, we were both so excited! Garrett and I walked around the Oval at school, just like we used to. On the walk, Garrett pointed out all the places on campus that were special to us in their own little ways. Finally, we reached the building where Garrett and I would talk that summer. We sat on the bench, and that's where he finally asked me to marry him. We were both so nervous, we don't remember exactly what either of us said, but we know one thing for sure - I said "yes!"
