Question

What you need to know about the free gondola:

Answer

Operating Hours: Sunday through Thursday - 6:30 a.m. to midnight Friday's and Saturday's- 6:30a.m to 2:00am The towns of Telluride and Mountain Village are linked by a spectacular, 12-minute ride on a free gondola—the first and only free public transportation system of its kind in the United States. This popular scenic attraction provides access to hiking and biking trails in the summer and the ski slopes in the winter. Passengers can load the gondola in either Mountain Village or Telluride and ride to the midway point (San Sophia from Station which hiking, biking and ski trails are accessed) and then continue on to the other side. The gondola has four primary stations where you can board and unload: Telluride Station (Oak Street) – access in Telluride. San Sophia Station (mid-mountain stop) – access to Allred’s Restaurant & Bar, San Sophia Overlook and ski resort trails and runs. Mountain Village Station – access in Mountain Village core. Market Plaza Station - Just across from Station Mountain Village, a shorter gondola stretch connects to Market Plaza Station, where the parking garage, Town Hall and the Mountain Market are located.

Question

What's the weather like in Telluride in late June?

Answer

Late June in Telluride is spectacular—think long, sunny days, vibrant greenery, and the clearest mountain air. Since we’ll be celebrating at 10,500 feet, here is what you need to know: Temperature: Expect "Dynamic Mountain Weather." Highs are usually in the 60s and 70s, but once the sun dips behind the peaks, it drops quickly into the 40s. Attire: Our ceremony is outdoors. We highly recommend bringing a light jacket, wrap, or pashmina to stay cozy during the "I Dos." Footwear: To reach San Sophia, you’ll be walking on natural mountain terrain and flagstone. Stilettos are strongly discouraged (you will sink!). We recommend chunkier heels, wedges, or dressy boots. If it rains: Have no fear, our wedding planner will provide umbrellas for each guest if it begins to rain.

Question

What is the attire?

Answer

The dress code for both events is "Formal Cocktail Attire". Think "elevated party." We suggest midi or floor-length dresses for the ladies and sharp suits for the gentlemen. Let’s celebrate in style! Remember that our ceremony will be outdoors so a light jacket or wrap is suggested, just in case!

Question

How to thrive at high altitude:

Answer

We want you celebrating with us all night long! Telluride is breathtaking (literally), and the air at the top of the gondola is much thinner than at sea level. To ensure you feel your best, here are our "Pro-Tips" for mountain living: 1. Hydrate Like It’s Your Job The secret to conquering the mountains is water. The air is extremely dry, and your body processes moisture faster at high altitudes. The Rule: Start drinking extra water 48 hours before you arrive in Colorado. Pro Tip: Supplement with electrolytes (Liquid I.V. or Nuun tablets) to help your body stay balanced. 2. The "One-for-Two" Rule Alcohol hits differently at 10,000 feet. One drink in Telluride is roughly equivalent to two at sea level. The Strategy: Pace yourself! We recommend alternating every celebratory cocktail with a full glass of water. Your future self will thank you at brunch the next morning. 3. Sunscreen will be helpful when you are outside in Telluride! At this elevation, there is significantly less atmosphere to filter UV rays. You can catch a sunburn in as little as 15 minutes, even if it feels breezy and cool. The Move: Apply SPF 30+ in the morning, and don't forget your sunglasses—the mountain glare is real! 4. Take it Slow If you’re planning on hiking or biking before the wedding, give your body a day to acclimate first. Listen to your lungs, walk a little slower, and enjoy the scenery. If you feel a headache coming on, it’s usually a sign you need more water and a quick rest. Advil will help too, of course. 5. You can supplement oxygen! There are small portable oxygen canisters sold at every market and gas station. Ladies, they will even fit in your purse. *That being said, we will have a stylish oxygen bar at the reception for you to enjoy!*
