On February 1st of this year Andrew and I took a three day weekend trip to Mammoth Mountain to visit our good friends and get some boarding in. After a fun day of boarding, our friend Tami suggested we have breakfast the following morning on the top of the mountain. Sounded like a great idea so we agreed. As the three of us made our way to the mountain I got a very important phone call from my colleague in Costa Rica. I knew it was important because this was the first time she had ever called me rather than text me. Long story short, it kept me very distracted as we walked up to the gondola (which should have been closed but was not because Tami set it up for Andrew to have the crew come in early just for us) as we were about to board the gondola, Tami claimed she was getting a phone call from the snowmobile place and would meet us up there. If I wasn’t so distracted I probably would have noticed she was not getting a phone call lol. So here we are, Andrew and I are riding the gondola to the top of the mountain, it’s a gorgeous morning, clear sky and the greatest views all around us. However, I’m still stupidly on my phone trying to fix a mess in another country. We reach the top, I put my phone away and head outside to look at the view from Dave’s Run. We take a few pictures of the view and in front of the Dave’s run sign and then I decide I’m cold and hungry (when am I not) and am ready for some breakfast. As I’m in mid stride towards the door I hear Andrew calling to me “wait! I have a question”. I turn around to find him on one knee with a ring in his hand and asking me to marry him. I believe the first words out of my mouth were “stop it!” Followed by “Yes! Of course! I’m so sorry for being on my phone!” We then made our way back down the gondola, being congratulated all the way down because all of the employee’s were in on it! We then celebrated on snowmobiles and tubing! It is a day I will never forget and always cherish.
