Like many great love stories of recent, we found each other through the help of a dating app called Bumble in early September of 2017. Who would have thought that a single swipe would lead us to our future partner? We began messaging, which turned into calling, which turned into a first date (Ebenezer Ale House), which turned into "officially dating" (at my apartment with Deep South Nachos), which turned into a whirlwind of a few years that included graduation/new jobs/moving in together, and eventually ended up with an engagement on June 27th, 2020.

It seemed like a routine Saturday afternoon activity when Daniel suggested that we go for a drive up to Reinstein Woods (the site of our second date) so that we could walk around the property. We'd been there a handful of times before, and I thought it was a great way to enjoy the weather that day (while socially distancing of course). We crossed over a bridge, walked to the water, and Daniel distracted me asking, "is that a turtle over there?". Of course, I was heavily invested in finding this imaginary turtle. When I turned around, disappointed that I couldn't see it, there he was down on one knee. The minute after was a blur, but I do remember looking around and being absolutely speechless (which almost never happens). We spent the next two hours wandering around Reinstein and surprise video-calling our families. It was a great way to share the excitement with them, as I casually slipped the ring into the shot and waited for their reactions. Of course we had to check out our other second date location --- The Brick House --- for a celebratory meal.
