Andrew and Kate were introduced by a mutual friend at an SCA event called Fighter's Collegium. Kate's first thought about Andrew was that he was an Adrian Brody-Elf look-a-like. He took her hand and kissed it like a polite and chivalrous man that he is. They spoke briefly and then parted ways. Several weeks later they saw each other again at yet another SCA event called PanHandle Skirmishes. Apparently Andrew thought when he saw her, "Hey, there is that cool girl Kate". They spoke for several hours at that event and became fast friends. Fast forward to Fall Semester 2016. Kate was in College Algebra and was struggling when Andrew offered to tutor her. Every evening after work and class, they would Skype each other and he would tutor her from Pensacola Florida. Their friendship grew deeper over that time period. Soon they were talking out side of the tutoring sessions for long periods of time. At the SCA event Fools War in April 2017, Andrew and Kate began their romantic relationship. They had a great foundation built upon a deep friendship with similar ideals and beliefs. It was not long after they started dating that they knew they were it for each other. Their conversations started changing from "if" they got married to "when" they get married. They both firmly believe that they are each other's half that make them whole.
On the weekend of Kate's birthday, Andrew planned a beautiful surprise for her. He took her to Lake Acworth where the park had a gazebo. It had snowed the previous day and the ground was covered in a blanket of white. The sun was just setting when Andrew led Kate to the gazebo, got down on one knee, and asked her to complete his life. He presented her with a ring designed by himself and consisted of an emerald with the diamonds Kate's father had given her mother when they got engaged. And of course Kate said Yes!
